Really enjoyed the change of vibes we got by having more than one unsub, definately felt scarier just picturing them 'hunting' than when we just have the one. Also LOVED getting some more Hotch backstory, keep it coming criminal minds, u got me too hooked to wish for anything less 😤

Dropbox Tip: The quality of the video is lower while streaming so I recommend downloading or using google drive if thats an issue

This is one of my fave episodes! I just love the character of John Blackwolf and I thought the way Hotch and him were butting heads was a great narrative choice. I think a lot of Hotch's antagonism was after effects of his drama with his brother Sean, but also while Hotch isn't annoying about it, he's definitely very...alpha male of the group you know? And they're used to dealing with other officers who either defer to Hotch and the team's authority or are petulant about it, but not worth the effort to feel something about it. John Blackwolf meets Hotch with just as much confidence as Hotch gives out and I think it was mostly a case of machismo. Which is why I like their little gun vs knife banter towards the end. I'm probably biased though because Hotch and John Blackwolf is one of my favorite underrated and random asl crackships to come out of this fandom lol Regarding calling Native Americans "Indians", I am not Native American, but from speaking with many others I can say that, from what I understand, most of them would prefer to be called whatever tribe they're apart of on an individual basis i.e. Apache, Cherokee, Navajo etc. And some don't care about being called Indians, but it is generally seen as very rude and inaccurate for non-Natives to call them that. Very much a sign of the early 2000s that everyone was using Indians instead of Native American. But the show was pretty respectful all things considered. They definitely fell into some of the traps of the no less racist "noble savage" rhetoric which isn't unique to Native Americans, but definitely very common. As a black person, I've seen it happen loads of times where well meaning people echo "positive" stereotypes in an attempt to romanticize or put one group on a pedestal to show just how racist they definitely aren't and appease their guilt over their own advantages in society. For example, the "wise old Indian" trope or the constant mentions of how good John is at tracking etc. I definitely would recommend reading up on reservations, the way the USA (and Canada honestly but I'm not Canadian so I can't speak too much on their history of mistreating their Indigenous population) has treated the Native Americans is absolutely awful and there's a lot of fucked up stuff that has happened and a lot of the consequences of that can be seen in how reservations are frequently underdeveloped and funded. But to answer your questions yes reservations generally govern themselves. But they came about as a sort of "we want your land so here's your assigned areas to get out of the way and y'all will have to fend for yourselves, while we hoard resources and persecute you in every other way" sort of mentality. The reason you don't see much Native American representation in media is well 1. Racism, but also through hundreds of years of murder, oppression, isolation, and forced assimilations, the Native American population has decreased greatly. They only make up like...3% of our population and they aren't afforded the same opportunities or visibility. Highly recommend the movie Killers of the Flower Moon or the show Reservation Dogs!

Aaron Hotchner sometimes called Hotch. Spencer Reid sometimes called Spence. Derek Morgan. Penelope Garcia. They more commonly use the last names because of the whole “Agent (insert last name here)” thing.
