As a Mexican born and raised in both Mexico and the U.S. Some insight I would give is yes homosexuality has gotten more accepted in recent years, but I would say more in bigger cities. Smaller towns/cities not so much. And since this episode aired in the early 2000s then yeah it was definitely less accepted back then. A 'coyote' is a person that specializes in crossing people over the border to the U.S. illegally. In Mexico people have 2 last names, the first is the father's last name and the second is the mother's last name 'their maiden name'. So that's how they were able to match the last names from the daughters to their mothers. I hope that helped in some way 😅

I do love when the show starts digging into the past of the characters and their home lives, as the show goes on we definitely get to know them a lot more as time passes. I'm so glad you love Reid, he is my absolute favourite. I think like you, Gideon is my least favourite he's a lot more stuck in his ways and his beliefs and annoys me more, which is obviously highlighted more in this episode as he wouldn't trust anything. Hayley, is the name of Hotch's wife and his son is called Jack :) Just in case you hadn't been aware, I know you said you struggle with names so I thought that would help :)

I appreciate that criminal minds tries a lot of different storylines in their episodes despite the short runtime. it definitely sometimes leads to things not being explored as deeply as I wish they were, but nonetheless im impressed at how much theyre able to fit within just 40-45 mins considering every episode is its own unique story ive been loving rewatching these with you! I hadnt watched this show in a while
