This episode is such a milestone, here is when the show pick up speed. Get used to it because in this show there are no filler episode, and they give you one season worth of content in one episode. There are so many things that became iconic, the Damon dance on the ledge, the Salvatore brothers back in the days being best friends and hugging each other’s, the introduction of Katherine. The love for Katherine is different between Stefan and Damon and is connected with their age, (Stefan was seventeen and Damon was twenty-four), their temperament and what they were and went through as humans. Surely Katherine with two very small-town young men must have look incredibly exciting, unique, sexy and powerful, making all the other ladies looking in comparison very dull and unappealing. I’m glad that you notice that the Damon account of Katherine was accurate, that Elena got only Stefan’s side of the story. Damon said that he doubts she got the whole story, and the way he said imply that Stefan omitted crucial piece of information. Why would he? He is the good brother, isn’t he? The point is why Damon is so mad at Stefan? To go from loving brothers and best friends to the present day, something really big must have happened to hold a grudge for 145 years. In this show nothing is plain and simple, characters are as complex as a character can get, and what motivate them is consistent with their personality, their psychological issues. The writing in this show is very impressive. Stefan and Elena. The purpose of Stefan was to come and start a new life, pretending to be human, with a human girlfriend, going to school as if he was seventeen, but he is not his been 17 for over a century and he is a vampire leaving in denial. That face on Elena’s porch was the realization, he cannot pretend to be what he is not, human and that the truth will eventually catch up with him. Elena’s reaction is very realistic, everybody would freak out to such revelation and information and the fact that now she has to lie and can go back to her seventeen years old normal teenager life must be shattering.

Loved seeing the brothers in the past with Katherine, really hope they show more of that. I had no idea about that age difference, Idk why I just assumed they were much closer in age, that does give a whole new vibe to their relationship. I really am loving the show so far, you were right, the urge to binge is growing!
