Oh love you Harry! Best reaction to the series! Also I just want to say that I HATE when some people vilify Wilhelm and blame him for his actions! We need to understand Wille was born in a family where your personal wants and needs are irrelevant. From the moment he was born his every step, every word was dictated and predetermined by the monarchy, plus the public, plus the media. He could never do anything what he desired. He was sent to the boarding school against his will, he was forced to apologize publicly for the fight in a club. How many of us had to go to the tv network and make a statement about something we did when we were a 16 years old? None of us. Sweden is very LGBT friendly country and public might’ve been ok with them to be together, but it’s irrelevant when it come to the monarchy and pressure to carry the bloodline and keep the royal duties. All his life he was compared to his “perfect” brother, and now he has to replace him. I totally understand Simons position, Simon was free to be who he wanted to be, always. And he got great support, where Wille never had any (especially shown in the last conversation with the queen, image and legacy was more important then his well-being). I 100% understand both sides, I understand why Wille had to make that statement, cause the pressure he’s under is unimaginable, and I understand why Simon had to protect his freedom to be who he was. The story is so tragic for both sides, there are no villains here (f**k you August), they are just victims of the circumstance. Plus they are only 16, no one at that’s age is capable to makes such life altering decision, especially when it comes to royal household (Take British monarchy as a reference). Anyway, BRAVO YR creative team and phenomenal talent of the performers for giving us such complex and absolutely beautiful story! NETFLIX, second season needs to be made like yesterday. My thoughts exactly. Who has the wisdom and courage to go against your parents at 16 years old. Then throw in the fact that you have lost your beloved brother and your mother keeps telling you that you have to honor his legacy. And let's talk a little bit about how it would effect Simon if Wilhelm admitted his relationship to the world. The media would have dissected his life and the lives of his family. His father, his mother and his sister's lives would have become fodder for the tabloid press. It would have crushed Simon that he put his family in that position. The central story is about "star-crossed lovers" which is always so tragic.

i think wilhelm was planning on telling the truth after the conversation he had with simon in the locker room and the one in his room before he went home. i dont think he was lying about that. i think his mom got in his head (fuck her tbh) and reminded him of the crazy amount of pressure thats on his shoulders, he probably decided to deny it last minute. i think he feels like hed be betraying not only his family but his whole country, probably erik as well. erik was the only one in his family he had a good relationship with, he probably wants to make him proud, even tho erik would 100% just want wilhelm to be happy (the one time august says something good) he probably wants to be that ''good prince'' erik was and honor him. i feel so horrible for him. maybe hes not ready to come out either. coming out in a ''normal'' situation is already so hard, imagine that PLUS all this shit he has to deal with :(

Oh absolutely! I 100% agree. Simon didn’t want to be anyone’s secret (btw what a beautiful line) but I’m sure he wouldn’t like to be in every tabloids story and loose his privacy. But also when some people say that Wilhelm wanted all on his terms, he never had anything in his life on “his terms”, he found one thing and even that was taken away. Omg I just made myself cry lol but I hope you understand what I mean

this whole thing is just so fucking sad. i understand and respect both wilhelm and simons decisions and in a way this actually ends up being better for simon. if wilhelm came out and said it was him in the video simon would forever be known as the guy who slept with the crown prince. it could damage his future really bad. now its ''just'' a sextape that will be forgotten about quicker, its obviously not any less horrible but itll blow over faster

Yes, absolutely that! Eriks name was thrown at poor Wille each and every time they needed him to do as he was told. He adored his brother and unfortunately his brothers name was always used against him.

Truly! Then it’s just some random guys sextape and it would’ve died down much quicker. And like you said in previous post Wilhelm was ready to admit it was him I believe. But Eriks name was thrown at him yet again and at his brothers funeral he swore to protect his legacy and had to follow through. This show I’m telling you, THIS SHOW!!!

it breaks my heart to think about how wille is all alone now. he lost his brother, he got betrayed by the person who was supposed to look after him and then he lost his boyfriend, who was basically his home. its so obvious that wille has been neglected his whole life. his mom and dad clearly dont care about him. he doesnt get the love and affection he deserves - his mom didnt even comfort him when erik died or when the video leaked. no hug, no comforting words, nothing. the headmistress cares about him more than his own mom does. when erik died and he got his new room she said some comforting things to him and he then immediately took the opportunity to get a hug and it breaks my heart, hes so touch starved. when hes with simon its so apparent that his love language is physical touch and it makes so much sense :( he hugs him like its the last time hes gonna recieve some form of love. when simon isnt there to give him affection he literally hugs himself like we saw in this episode.

this is not related to this episode im sorry but i noticed something when i rewatched the football field scene. when simon comes to get him hes genuinely surprised that he came for him. he keeps repeating ''you came!'', ''youre really here'', ''thank you for coming'', ''im so happy youre here'' etc, like he never expected him to care enough to come there, because hes not used to people caring about him. my poor baby god i just wanna hug him :(

Ok stop! I’m literally crying right now. I noticed all those things and it breaks my heart 😔 I just want to know one thing, what kind of drug did they infuse this show with? I’ve seen it 6 or 7 times already (not including the all the reaction on YouTube and Harry’s page here) and I still can not get it out of my head! I’m fully addicted I feel and I need help!

my god im so sorry for all the comments but i forgot to say something - i think the ending scene with the revolution song is a turning point for wille. him hugging simon in front of everyone is a huge deal, him telling simon he loves him feels to me like hes saying that he will fight for them or something like that. the look into the camera at the end, and just the lyrics of the song. i mean, ''lets start a revolution''.. yes please, lets. im ready for him to be done with everyones bs and go off next season.

Totally agree with J-L.. Wilhelms loneliness breaks my heart, he clearly hasn't known a lot of love and yet he is so brave in expressing feelings sometimes. I really liked the ending, that they stayed true to the realism of the series. A happy hollywood ending wouldn't do it justice (plus that would have ended the series right there ;) Your reactions are the best by the way!!

I don't think he was actively lying, but I do think he knew he would cave easily when going home so i don;t think he should have said 100% that he was gonna say the truth. I think he did truly want to, just felt he had to reassure Simon which in the end had the opposite affect. I think his Mum is definitely having an influence on how he is remembering Erik. i think she is clouding his view and making him think Erik would want him to be a good prince which is so fucked up as I think we all know he would just want him to be happy. His mum is such a fucked up parent figure and I hope he comes to see this in time and does whats best for him.

It's amazing that he initially auditioned for the role of Simon but the casting directors saw him as a better fit for August.

*shows up 11 months late with an expired salad bowl from Subway* The thing I love about the final scene is that it is arguably the first time we see Wilhelm initiating intimacy with Simon selflessly. He offers it as an apology and a reassurance. To me it really feels like a statement from Wilhelm of "I will not ask anymore of you until I am ready give back just as much." I love it.

Watching "Heartstopper", everybody hates Ben. Watching "Young Royals", everybody hates August. And both characters are played by actors who, by all accounts, are utter sweethearts, two genuinely nice guys. Funny how that happens.
