Why didn't Elena accept the necklace after Damon offered back to her?

I think it was her trying to 'move on' from Stefan as it was so painful this episode and with his emotions off now, he truly is gone

I definately think he felt like he was about to lose control so he stabbed himself to delay the inevitable

To be honest, I don't remember paying close attention to it so I would say no but I do remember thinking this is going ot traumatise her and potentially fuck up their relationship forever

Interesting fact, after this episode, Elena never wore the necklace again. A friend who is a writer told me that symbolically it is the end of Stefan and Elena.
