Again, Jess, given the health problems that Rocco has been dealing with, it really is no problem if any of the videos get delayed. If that’s what happens, then that’s what happens. Going into act two. I don’t recall the show providing a precise answer on the time-jump. Given dialogue and inferences, I would surmise that it has been at least months since the end of act one. Maybe not yet a year, but at least half of one. From the looks of things, everyone is coming to learn the golden rule all too well: Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullshit every goddamn time. They should be grateful it’s not getting fucking dragged into a goddamn familial squabble with the wookiees whilst you’re simply trying to find a Star Map. Ah, the good old days. Nice to see Caitlyn isn’t completely off the deep end. Helping is Maddie, didn’t see that relationship coming. I do like how though Caitlyn is blinded by rage, she’s still shrewd enough to recognize that Ambessa is more a useful ally than a true comrade in arms. Speaking of Ambessa, she’s run into a wall with the science of it all, which suggests that there is no Dr. Zola in this world, which is a shame as seeing dear Toby as dear Arnim would be nice. I rather like how Rictus notes that they don’t know with complete certainty that the rosy witches are behind the disappearance of the scientists, and Ambessa rejects such a thought of someone or something else being responsible for that, and the genuine coincidence is itself on paper that improbable, so it makes sense why Ambessa is operating under the belief that the rosy witches are responsible. They do, as you somewhat saltily note, overlook Ekko’s disappearance, but as you also note, they likely don’t know who he is, so it makes sense. Sevika does have her hands full trying to unite everyone under the same banner. I quite liked her in the first season. She stood out to me, and her getting the greater focus is much appreciated. Quite love seeing you really loving her this season. Yeah, Jinx has been laying low and avoiding the fight. Mostly getting up to the bug fights. Similar reaction to the bug fights of querying, “Who or what is fighting?” Shared reaction to that reveal. You speak well how she’s prioritizing her new friendship with Isha. It is probably the first person in a long time, maybe ever, who cares for her because she’s her. No strings attached. No ulterior motive. And Jinx is wanting to hold onto that and not risk it. Shame the riots happen, leading to Isha getting taken, though she has the creepy Ernest Thesiger guy for company. Love how Jinx and Sevika team up to save her and the others. Quite love your response to the guard criticizing Jinx’s pants. In Jinx’s place, I’d reply, “My apologies that I can’t afford to hire Edith Head to provide me with an Oscar winning wardrobe. How silly of me!” I’d also say in her place when saving the Isha and the people, “Backs to the wall, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dyin’ time’s here!” Though like you noted, the one gentleman needed no encouragement, as he’s pulling up a chair, cooler full of beer, and a big tub of buttery popcorn waiting for the big boy to arrive. Before he did, yeah, I hear you on how Jinx responded to the people she freed. They have their Lisan al-Gaib response, and you can see that Jinx, suddenly she feels... very, very good. Most overwhelming for her as you say. It gets you when Isha gets taken away by Sevika at Jinx’s insistence. Love the conveyance of Sevika getting to the point where she now has the attitude toward Jinx where she thinks, “Deep down in my stomach, with every inch of me, l pure, straight hate you! But goddamn it, do l respect you!” Jinx was intent to die braver than most. Until the new development makes itself known. Christ Almighty, Jess, did you claw my heart up with your reaction there. Does it mean what you think it means? Well, I think... You said you do not wish to comment much, so I will respect that wish and not offer comment at this time. One note of interest. The Vander or not Vander of it all, you say that is still does not distract from your love and concern for Ekko. I expected no less. And as you also noted, yes, we didn’t check in with Vi. The absence of Vi makes me say, “Oh, no. Anyway.” Messiness will of course abound in the episodes to come. Until then, thank you for this terrific reaction, Jess.

Any time someone brings up that movie, I have to say "Can we all just appreciate that the Bride has just three minutes of screentime ever, give or take a bit of Madeline Kahn, and is still one of the most famous and instantly recognizable characters in movie history?"

Thomas Corp

Shared sentiment. People do need to appreciate that fact more than they do.

"Wait, how is Vi with Maddie now?" "Oh, so now you don't want her in bed with a girl?" "I...I don't know what I want anymore!" Thanks for providing another amazing reaction to this reveal (I especially recommend Not So Average Fangirl, Wee Lass Reacts, and I Am Zamber for more especially great ones). Well, everyone has their own way of dealing with grief, and getting a meaningless fucktoy is certainly healthier than some other things I've seen characters do. And it's much appreciated that for as bad as things looked last time, she's still believably in character and not just mindlessly following everything Ambessa says. And I don't know if it's supposed to be funny, but I get a real kick out of how she's expending all this energy to find someone who's literally been doing nothing the whole time. Speaking of, another tip of the hat to the animators who easily could have just copied Jinx's hair color onto Isha's, but instead, just like when an alien was in human disguise on Farscape, they go the extra mile and actually make it look like an amateur job. Ella gets to stretch her range here more than ever before on the show, including the situation that feels more like something Lucy would get into where the guard refuses to believe it's really her. Also quite a nice twist to see Isha starting to take inspiration from her without just becoming a copy, and if she could talk, I totally buy she would be saying something like "The age of Primes has ended! No more false prophets! Follow me and you will never again be deceived. Rise up! I will lead us all into the future. I AM MEGATRON!" And then, the arrival of the character I'm assured is called Warwick in the games, so I'll stick to that for now. We start with another of this crew's skill at facial expressions, with Jinx and Sevika both giving each other a clear look of "You're seeing this too, right?" at him no-selling a hextech bullet, and for once we get to see Jinx totally on the back foot for an entire fight as Abby Normal's brain is too much for anyone to handle. Once again, having seen the remaining episodes at this time, I'll hold off on saying any more.

You're right about Sevika. She is doing so much and not getting the respect she deserves. The Jinx-Isha relationship alternately warms and breaks my heart. Warms for the obvious reasons, but breaks because they both so clearly need the other. Jinx has so wanted to belong. She made Silco her father-figure that's how badly she needed someone. And out of nowhere she has this "friend"/"sis" who's just completely trusting of her, completely devoted to her. I don't know the timescales but I *hope* it's been at least a little while, because damn Caitlyn moved on quickly. Although I don't think that's a great situation. I feel for Maddie who seems far more into her, and she's dismissively "don't wait up". Dare I say her heart still belongs elsewhere? and so isn't really in this relationship. Is that Vander? All I will say is if you re-listen to that "Powder?" a couple of times I think you'll have your answer.

Like you say, everyone has their go-to for coping with grief. I find I’m like Jess in that there is the strong relation to Shirley in Haunting of Hill House on that front. Caitlyn went the meaningless fucktoy route, no judgments, particularly as I’ve never had any type of relationship. Heard the shippers got nasty to Maddie which is upsetting. Shared liking how Caitlyn holds onto herself some and hasn’t fully devolved into being Ambessa’s attack dog. There is some humor to the expending all the energy when Jinx has literally been doing nothing. Good note on the animation with the dye job. Ella does feel like she’s flitting between Jinx and Goosey, (Lucy. SHIT.) and she’s been great. Isha has been fascinating. Could see her saying that Megatron business. Closed captioning, plus a comment or too elsewhere tells me you are correct on the name given to the big boy. Jinx and Sevika do have a great “You’re seeing this too, right?” Always love those moments. Still really love the one last year in The Fall of the House of Usher when Roderick and Dupin shared such a look when Madeline burst out from the basement. Jinx was given a run for her money in that fight. I am unclear though, who do we thank or blame for that vis-à-vis Abby’s brain being too much to handle? Is that on Dwight Frye or Marty Feldman? Rather striking seeing Jess have the look and tears at the end of this. Then again, concerning the big boy: In many ways, he never left. He’s always offered the same high-quality meals at competitive prices. Further discussion on the topic to come.

Love how Jess is putting respect on Sevika’s name. Mixed feelings all around with the Jinx and Isha relationship. Based on the dialogue, I surmise it’s been six months minimum since the end of act one. They are also mum on exactly when Caitlyn and Maddie began seeing each other outside of work. Hence it allows us to just go with the idea that Caitlyn didn’t move on QUITE that fast. Heart does go out to Maddie some, she seems a nice lady.

Ryan

I seriously believe Bryan Tyree Henry would be in Oscar consideration for this performance if it wasn't in something as "lowly" as a Transformers movie.

There’s also still the hurdle of the Academy has the aversion to voice acting in general, which I continue to feel that such an aversion is stupid.
