"Now, Chief Elder, I've work for you elsewhere.", "Work? Where are the gifts?", Kamelion/Master and Timanov, "Planet of Fire" This is my favourite line from Timanov. It's delicious that a religous leader is shown to be mercenary in demanding gifts before doing any work. "I think Malkon is my brother.", Turlough, "Planet of Fire" Turlough's backstory gets drip-fed to us during this story and I think they do it well. Turlough only lets us know enough to satisfy people at the time but we gradually find out about the whole civil war/exile stuff. "Where are the promised gifts?", Timanov, "Planet of Fire" Yep, Timanov has a one-track mind. "But infinitely superior, as I am to that galactic philanthropist.", Kamelion/Master of the Master's TARDIS, "Planet of Fire" Ooh, "galactic philanthropist" is a nice phrase to associate with the Doctor. "Hmm. Trace elements of numismaton gas.", The Doctor, "Planet of Fire" Is this an early occurance of the Doctor tasting things in his surroundings? Honest question - I don't know. It's been a trademark of 10 & 14, and I recall 13 eating some soil and detecting a distant alpaca farm. There must be some earlier occurrences though. Does this mean I need to do another Doctor Who marathon from the very beginning looking for the Doctor tasting stuff? "How does it feel to get a taste of your own medicine?", The Doctor, "Planet of Fire" I love the mini-Master running around, trying to escape from Peri. "The Trions have agents on every civilised planet. An agrarian commissioner on Verdon, a tax inspector on Darveg, and a very eccentric solicitor in Chancery Lane. They'll know, all right.", Turlough, "Planet of Fire" Oh, a call-back to "Mawdryn Undead"! "I deal with a solicitor in London, and a very strange man he is, too.", Headmaster, "Mawdryn Undead" "The worst place in the universe. An English public school on Earth.", Turlough, "Planet of Fire" Cue a reaction from Jess! "My exile has been rescinded.", Turlough, "Planet of Fire" With Turlough's departure we can think back to the last time the Doctor didn't have a non-human companion. Leela came from a human colony so it must be "The Prawn of Evil" er, "The Invisible Enemy" with the introduction of K9. Since then we've had a run of K9, Romana, Adric, Nyssa, Turlough, and Kamelion.
