One of the best Master reveals! lol

Although I didn't remember the ins and outs of this story, as soon as I saw that big box that Kamelion-Master and Peri were dragging about, I knew that was where the real Master was and shrunk! I suspect that remembering what happened with the Doctor on Logopolis clued me in. A shame that Kamelion didn't accrue so much potential as C3PO in Star Wars whom I suspect he was based upon.

It's occurred to me this time around that maybe Turlough is a bit ashamed of what happened to him and how he used to be. He doesn't give any indications of what the civil war was about so maybe he feels it's something that the Doctor wouldn't understand, possibly so doesn't explain as much as he could. Again Mark Strickson knocks it out of the park.

From what I understand, the inventor of the actual electronic prop died (I think in a boating accident), and no-one else knew how to operate it - so, out it had to go.

Thomas Corp

I think I heard something about nobody else knowing how to operate the prop as well. Damn shame.

Josef Schiltz

Ah! I just looked that up. The software designer, Mike Power, was killed in a boating accident and he was the only one who knew the codes for operation.

Josef Schiltz

In somewhat diminished circumstances! - which has a visual echo in 1971's The Mind of Evil where The Master has a nightmarish vision of a laughing Third Doctor towering above him.

Oh s21 really is the 1,2 punch with exits!

Thank you for another great reaction & it was really good to hear your thoughts on this story. I loved this one for pretty much all of the reasons you gave in your analysis, but I will add one thing. The character who held such deep faith in Logar, although a bit of a One Mo Fo throughout the story, I kind of found his faith to be comforting. You could tell he was really convinced of Logar, right up until the end, when he said how Logar was everywhere. Although his belief lead to a tragic ending for him, his people survived and it was quite telling that he didn't object to them being saved which, I felt ultimately proved he was of good character deep down. I really loved that touch. Also The Master shone in this episode. I thought the during the scene when Perry tipped over the box & he escaped, she was ready to whack him with her shoe! Made me laugh so much when I first saw this and still does! As for Kamelion, it was a very sad ending. I felt the character had a lot of potential as a shape shifting Robot, it could really have enhanced some of the stories in interesting & amusing ways. Sadly the prop was no good & didn't perform on cue, so they had to devise an ending for him. Had the character been introduced now, it would have worked so much better what with how far Technology and AI have come. I'd certainly be on the buyers list if they made a real K-9 now, which is entirely possible. So we say goodbye to Turlough now & the Doctor gains Perry. Interestingly, after Doctor Who, the actor Mark Strickson became a documentary producer and director. See you next time!

Only if it worked back then how it worked now people then would know the code but they had different softwares back then preventing it sadly
