Sorry to hear that you had to contend with a technical nuisance on the day of filming, and by extension, it allowed frustration to fester some. It’s never fun. I would not have opposed you discussing the matter, and I’m sure others would have been supportive. That decision to divulge, however, is always up to you, and you say you didn’t want to get into it, so I won’t pry. It does feel like we’ve shifted to beginning of the end of the season. We both loved the opening. You mention that it sounds weird to love it when we see Mark sell how ruthless Crowley is. Not weird to me, Jess, though I’m a man who has spent his entire life just LIVING for the grand villainy in stories. Crowley in the opening was very Faustian, and it was great to see, your own reaction, likewise. Frustrating to see that Supernatural continues their historic pattern of spoiling returning guest cast, when the character was supposed to be dead. They really do need to STOP doing that in the opening credits. The one plus here is that it’s not long after the credits that they reveal about Rowena, so it’s not like they drag out the suspense, even if the surprise is gone, something you even pointed out. Lovely reaction to seeing Rowena again, all the same. No need to apologize for the shrillness, by the way. You say that you didn’t much mind how causally they revealed Rowena’s stubborn refusal to expire, and how you honestly don’t care how it happened, and you’d have been tickled pink if they only went all-out with a “Somehow, Rowena returned.” type deal, and that you’re just happy that it did happen. Sounds familiar. She really needs to work on her subtlety as Amara rather quickly gathers Rowena’s trustworthiness doesn’t go any further than she could be thrown. Love Crowley getting as angry with the boys as he did. Builds up to the main event. It was a standout scene where Crowley goes into Castiel’s mind to try to get through to Castiel. And it gets spicier when Amara gets involved. See, you expressed how the episodes remaining tip you off that Lucy’s efforts will be unsuccessful. There is that. There is also the fact that we still have loose threads with Amara that have yet to be tied off. I also just kept calling bullshit on Lucy being able to take Amara; Crowley even pointed out episodes prior that if he really did have the power, he’d have made a move sooner than he did. It is therefore nice that the episode doesn’t treat that as the biggest shock, though nice to see Lucy squirm a bit. Your concern for Castiel is quite touching. The boys had a good talk at the end. Another big highlight of the reaction: Love how you, Crowley, and I had a pronounced reaction to hearing one of Dean’s sex fantasies. My own reaction mirrored your own, and I love how Crowley initially has a similar reaction before half shrugging in a “All fairness, I’m not one to judge.” sort of way. All in all, a solid episode, yielding a great reaction, even with the pesky technical nuisance, that I hope you were able to deal with. Thanks for the fun reaction, Jess.
