Looking forward to watching this reaction later tonight. Assuming my power stays on in this storm that is.

"Unstable? Unstable? Unstable! This is me, Peri. At this very moment I am as stable as you will ever see me.", "Oh dear.", The Doctor and Peri, "Attack of the Cybermen" Love the series callbacks in this one - due to input from the production team's Doctor Who fan consultant - calling the companion "Susan" and seeing Totter's Lane scrapyard from "An Unearthly Child", Telos from "The Tomb of the Cybermen", Cybermen in the London sewers from "The Invasion". And they went back to the same quarry to represent Telos as the one used in "The Tomb of the Cybermen". And on top of that, the Cyber-Controller was played by Michael Kilgarriff reprising his role in "The Tomb of the Cybermen" 17 years earlier. And in those 17 years, ... well, they had to let the costume's silver foil out a bit. BTW: when the TARDIS lands in the Totter's Lane scrapyard, the music cue is a version of the theme to a classic BBC sitcom which was set in a scrapyard - and that sitcom theme was also written by Ron Grainer who composed the Doctor Who theme. "You said you came from Fulham.", "You know, Griffiths, when I look at you, I often wonder why your ancestors bothered to climb out of the primordial slime.", Griffiths and Lytton, "Attack of the Cybermen" Lytton also makes a comeback in this story along with his group of sinister policemen. Hey, we remember him from ... last year (although only few weeks ago for us marathon viewers). Griffiths is played by Brian Glover who had an early career as a professional wrestler. And then had a career as a writer and actor. I remember him from the first season of the sitcom "Porridge". Looking through his IMDB, he was in "An American Werewolf in London" - he was at the pub in the early scenes. But he did tend to be typecast as the type of character we see here: "You play to your strengths in this game, and my strength is as a bald-headed, rough-looking Yorkshireman", Brian Glover "I'm here to observe the activities of a white male suspect known as Lytton.", "Lytton? Tall, lean, dark, dark, well-spoken? The sort of man who might shoot his mother just to keep his trigger finger supple?", Russell and the Doctor, "Attack of the Cybermen" Russell, here, is played by Terry Molloy - who we last saw inside the Davros mask. "I can guess who it is. I've been expecting him to return. He calls himself the Doctor.", "Excellent!", Lytton and the Cyberleader, "Attack of the Cybermen" It's fun to have the Cybermen back!

How you discuss that thing of assessing a new Doctor, I know the feeling well. There always is that period of adjustment and most Doctors tend to take an episode or two before the actor or actress finds their footing. Some like Eleven and Twelve, there’s the instant gravitation toward them, the latter aided by my love for Peter prior to his turn as Twelve. And Ncuti had a rather seamless jumping into things, though he had the benefit of side-stepping the usual post-regeneration story that normally dealt with the Doctor themselves acclimating. Great to see your reaction to the title giving away the surprise of our dear beloved Cybermen. It is unintentionally hilarious how they build up the mystery when we already saw the title, to the point you just go, “What a twist!” when they finally reveal them. Interesting to see Lytton again, loved your reaction there. Quite the scheme that he’s got. Feels like a plotline you’d see in The Professionals, and it kind of makes me say that I’d rather be watching that instead. Rather amusing how you defend the coat as it makes Six easier to see in those dark and damp sewers, especially seeing they didn’t follow your suggestions as we are sans sewer sconces. The dynamic between Six and Peri is still unsteady. I will say that I like how you are quite enjoying the Howard Hawksian style snappy dialogue between the two. True, it’s not Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell quality of that kind of rapid-fire verbal thrust and parry, but it is memorable and entertaining, if nothing else. Love how you are being honest about still being unclear on feelings of Six at this time, whilst still giving Colin his props, and deservedly so as the man is quite good. Should be interesting to see how the reaction to part two goes. And I hear you on the being hardwired to expect the cliffhanger by the way. Thanks again for a fun Classic Who reaction, Jess.
