Certainly, an eventful penultimate hour for the season. The awkwardness is intense with God and Lucifer hashing things out. Sam and Dean are bolder than I am in this scenario. I mean, it’s God and Lucifer, what do you say to impart wisdom or advice? Like the words you said about the acting there. They have the plan in play with getting the angels, and our beloved villains. Well, Crowley is more beloved than Rowena. Wicked delight though she is, the woman is trying. She also does love to bang on the drum of people underestimating her for being a witch and a woman, when now we again have another case of a fellow witch recognizing the score. Namely Rowena doubts God’s in the mix, when the other witch clocks that quick, showing that Rowena’s problem is herself. Though again, she is entertaining, and I love that you quite like her. You say that calling Rowena a snake is being too harsh, well, ok, fine, what reptile would you prefer that Sam call her then? Because she definitely fits the bill on some level. Crowley meantime is dealing with the ungrateful and inconsiderate demons. The one demon taunting Crowley and counting Crowley out, you and I had similar responses to that. My own observations being, “My friend, I don’t think you understand what a BAD idea this is.” Crowley also gets dragged into the big fight when Dean interrupts his meditative time of drinking. Surprised that Crowley didn’t get more upset over Dean emptying the glass; when I saw that, I even said, “Dean, that was probably really good scotch. What the hell, man?” Nonetheless, all the players are on stage, and they did unleash a lot of sound and fury which did get the Darkness on the ropes. Shame that they couldn’t get to her before she sucked Donatello’s soul out of his body. Bringing us to the one part of the strategy: the fact that the plan is to recage Amara rather than kill her. Makes sense. As Tim Curry said in his time as Darkness, “You think you have won. What is Light without Dark? What are you without ME? I am a part of you all. You can NEVER defeat me. We are brothers, ETERNAL!” (Well, brother and sister in this case, but you see my point.) Love that you caught that gap in the plan before it was revealed that Sam was planning to bear the Mark. I was a wiseass when Dean objected, saying, “Well, hey, you said you lie to Sam and tell him that you’re sorry all the time. Doesn’t feel so good when the foot’s on the other hand, does it?” Dean, to his credit goes with it. And since Amara was on the ropes, God made his move. Unfortunately, on the ropes ain’t the same as bleeding out. Leads to Amara striking back and dealing what she says is a fatal blow to the father almighty. Leaving him alive long enough to see his creation be consumed by everlasting Darkness. You ask where we go from here, especially the part about God dying, I don’t know. They didn’t cover that topic in nine years of Sunday School, so I’m just as stumped as you are. Then there is the concern about Castiel after, I imagine Amara expelled old Lucy from his vessel. I hardly think that the Desolate One is going QUITE that anti-climactically, especially when one considers that vanity is definitely his favorite sin. I assume the next episode answers the question of Castiel being dead or alive, and no doubt you’ve filmed that reaction already where you receive the answer either way, so, see how that plays out. Meantime, thanks for another fun reaction, Jess.
