First off, Disney just dropped a surprise trailer for a new Star Wars Tales in May, and I'm pretty sure I speak for a lot of us when I say you should hold off on it until a less hectic time. The order of these things is never that important anyway. This was a really weird one, and easily where I could most tangibly sense the original and revamped versions of the show being actively at war with each other. Muse turns out to be a total letdown to the end, with the exact same problem I had with the end of Saw. The bad guy is this random person we saw for five total seconds before the reveal? Why am I supposed to care about that? And with him now dead, there's no chance to build off that to make it work like those movies did. To its credit, the show doesn't seem to actually be trying to play this as a big reveal, but we're still left with the guy we were supposed to be so afraid of for multiple episodes just being this emo dipshit who poisoned his master's fishheads to attempt to explain why Matt doesn't just demolish him. On the plus side, I'm now bothering to remember Heather's name since she has a reason to exist and whatnot. And that one line about people in masks all being cowards just makes me wonder, who exactly did she vote to be mayor? Her continuing to poke holes in Matt's psyche until she figures out he's Daredevil is also promising. "That's impossible." "Is it? Or is it so possible that your head is spinning like a top?" More than ever, I'm saying to Matt's new staff "You'll never be Foggy and Karen" in full Abe Weissman voice. Most of all, Cherry's falling out over Matt being Daredevil again isn't anywhere near as compelling as Foggy's, and I'm just plain confused by parts of his argument. Would he really rather Angela had been killed? I'm just done with both of them at this point, and I doubt the last two episodes can have enough to turn that around. The word is that the last two episodes were completely reshot by the new crew just like the first, and I'm eager to see what that means. Hopefully a bit more closure than we would have gotten just cutting those 18 episodes in half as they were. In particular, we need a big showdown between Matt and Fisk, something along the lines of "That, my friends, is the minority vote."

“To the man who loves art for its own sake, it is frequently in its least important and lowliest manifestations that the keenest pleasure is to be derived.” There, the obligatory quote’s out of the way. As it’s tangentially connected via comic book superheroes, a moment of silence for Val Kilmer. First thing I read when I woke up early this morning before I left for work was that he has died, I was sorry to hear about that. Now, let’s talk turkey about the episode. You have been making a habit of calling each episode a great episode, and I’m just happy to see you loving the show, Jess. Great to see the fallout of Matt tippy tapping back into the Daredevil of it all. Has been some time, yes, since you did your Sneaky-Matt dance as Daredevil does whatever a Sneaky-Matt does. Vincent sells well Kingpin’s barely concealed rage at that. And as you say, his focus shifts. He still is trying to get Muse off the streets as he is extreme, even by Kingpin’s standards. A fact that’s reinforced when Kim delivers the report to him. Kim, by the way, loved her in that scene of personal feelings toward Kingpin aside, she is dutifully doing her job, and it helps that Kingpin is polite and cordial to her. Loved the acting energy in that scene. What it says about you that you love watching Daredevil beating the fuck out of people, not sure, but I’m more partial to watching Kingpin beating the ever-loving shit out of people, so... at least you live more for the hero, there’s that. And we’re back to Matt just being a fucking big fat liar. Getting season two flashbacks where I’m on Foggy’s side, yelling, “No, Matt, Foggy’s mad, not because you’re off doing shit with Elektra, but because you LIED ABOUT IT!!” Of course, when it comes to combating the lying to Heather, we present the solution, “All right, Sparky here’s the deal. If you want to court the little lady, you got to be a straight shooter. Do ya got it? Tell her. The TRUUUUUUUUTH!!!” Related to that, LOVED Cherry calling Matt out on his bullshit. Poor Kirstin is left out of the loop. Now to Muse. Loved your reaction to his unmasking. Honestly, I forgot about his prior maskless scene. The excitement of new Kingpin and Vanessa material, combined with the gaping and festering Foggy shaped wound to the heart and soul was very distracting it seems. But like you said, they played the reveal well. Quite the scene of Muse blaming it all on Heather as she’s the one who “gave him all the signals”. This begs the prudent question: “What signals, Bastian? Are the signals in the room with us right now, Bastian?” Simpatico on the needles of it all, as I said last time. Great how you kept encouraging Heather about the gun, making me note, “Give it a sec.” Muse and Daredevil had quite the tussle, cut short by Heather putting a few holes into Muse, LOVELY reaction you had to that. Kingpin is, of course, suppressing that. They immediately declare Muse to be dead, I ask, “We sure about that?”, but by all accounts, he looks dead. You ask is Heather going to piece things together. She’d be a complete fucking idiot if she doesn’t deduce the full extent of Matt’s difficulties with duality. She is a bit out of it at the moment, of course, though in the meantime, probably yes, this Muse business would make for a rather memorable chapter in her book. And Matt is going to soon have Kingpin to deal with again, which that will be a sight to see. You spoke of how you found it insane how Kingpin orchestrated everything in season three. That did make me happy. Seeing our dear beloved villain fully flourish. Twas glorious, yes? And it will be glorious if he taps back into that again. Bringing us to Vanessa who most certainly does want that Kingpin back. You speak of her dissatisfaction, and how she longs for the man she fell in love with; that darkness. I do recall her desire to share that with him back in season three, which speaking of that: Oh, don’t worry, I already knew that you still have Vanessa on your shit list after her ordering Ray’s death. Vanessa is a woman that yearns for the villainy and darkness. I’m sort of jealous of Kingpin in that respect as that’s couple goals. To me, anyway. (Not to the full extent here, obviously.) Vanessa surely played Luca beautifully, and Kingpin had the perfect cap of telling Buck to ask if Vanessa wished for him to bring home some food. I would hope once he returns home, the couple can have a talk where, to borrow from a movie that I hope and pray will be reacted to in the future, Vanessa can assure Kingpin, “Now they’ll fear you.”, to which Kingpin can reply, “Maybe they should fear YOU.” Then there’s the big scene with Daniel who is now threatening to get on your shit list by threatening BB who has the legacy likability. And if you want some good threats to yell at him, I’d call Peter Capaldi up as he had some good back-and-forth with his dad. Speaking of his dad, Michael just SO channeled his dad in that scene. And although I know you’re not meant to like his threatening BB, I’m not disputing that, seeing his scene, made me just start crying some with how he channeled his dad. You know that somewhere in Heaven, his dad’s up there, saying, “That’s my boy!” Two episodes to go, and they are sure going to be fun sharing them with you, just as much as this sharing this season with you has been wonderful, and this reaction is no different. Thanks for the very fun time, Jess.

Batman. Iceman. Doc Holiday. Jim Morrison. Elvis. Moses. Madmartigan. We were blessed with a shining light that I know I didn't appreciate enough while he was here. I'm now desperately clinging to how his last decade plus sounded so incredibly hard and now that's over. My thinking of Fisk getting back to Vanessa was more along the lines of "Were you tempted?" "Not for a worm like him."
