Always nice to see you when Dex shows up. "You're a creep! Go away! We were having a good time until you showed up, jeepers! Go have some coffee with cream or something! Because I'll tell you something, this is a happy place!" As much as I've been able to understand it, this is the point where the show's new crew were able to stop having to work what they wanted to do around the footage that the first crew had shot, and they can just do whatever they want from now on. And boy, does that sense of new freedom run through this whole thing, with all kinds of flashy directing stuff like nothing we've seen before. I especially love how they knew they'd never be able to get the whole party in one shot, but were still determined to get as much in long single takes as possible. The interplay now that Matt is stuck saying to Heather "I've never met Daredevil, but he sounds handsome" is as fun as I'd hoped, just a shame it took so long to get to this point. And Fisk must have had so much fun making out the invitation to Edna Mode and guest. Also quite surprised Adam got to keep his hands to the end, which also makes me doubt Daniel's line about being willing to burn for Fisk could be going anywhere. But I really hope so. I figured they wouldn't bring Dex back just to kill him off, so the question was could they show him escaping without making all the guards look like idiots? And they got halfway there. I totally buy the tooth as something no one could have seen coming, but then his getting on the bus with ID that presumably looks nothing like him is a lot harder to swallow. And while we're here, there's been some broaching of trying out Nightmare on Elm Street movies again, and I'll just suggest Wilson Bethel could work as a new Freddie. Oh, the sound that came out of me at seeing Vincent's Fisk finally get to put on the iconic white suit. And the party just builds from there, putting in so much of what's been building through the season without it feeling rushed at all. Most of all, it's a relief to finally have a solid sense of what's BB's been doing here, and I'm super excited at her and Gallo teaming up. After all, no one plots like Gaston. And I have to imagine the crew knows they can't kill her off without it looking even more like open racism than killing her uncle did. To lose one Urich may be regarded as a misfortune, to lose two seems like carelessness. The whole dance scene may just be the magnum opus of the show so far. The song calling New York a zoo like Dex was talking about, Fisk having his moment of "Only one thing alive with less than four legs can hear this frequency, and that's you," Matt following with "I know it was you, Fredo, you broke my heart," and then the big payoff to what makes a good person. I legit have no idea how anyone is going to react to this in the finale, and that's a very fun place to be in.

Hell of a deep cut to use in relation to Bullseye. Tis fitting, as we do call him mad! Insane! WENDELL! I heard the statement last week saying that last week’s episode contained the last of the footage originally shot prior to the creative overhaul. You do get the greater sense of the freedom that it allowed. Matt is stuck in that “What did this incredibly handsome Daredevil ever do to you?” trap when keeping his secret identity from Heather. Kingpin lived for the Edna Mode touch with the invitation, that got a cackle. Concerning Daniel burning for Kingpin, regardless of if it happens or not, hopefully he doesn’t get stuck with what his dad got where the whole thing just cuts to black mid sen... Yeah, figured Bullseye would show up again, either this season or future seasons. The tooth being that which set him free, hard to fault the guards as, like you say, no one would think about that. The ID thing, it is late at night, and even then, it’s a stretch that you somewhat allow as it is a necessary bit of lazy writing to permit certain things to happen, frustrating though it is. Wilson as Freddy? ...Sounds like it’d be all right. Just hope it would be better than the past remake fifteen years ago. (Fuck, is it THAT old already!?) Kingpin in the white suit does bring a smile to my face just as much as the Kingpin and Vanessa romance does. They got ambitious with the party scene. Good note on how it’s all been built up well. I remember you expressed concern about the handling of BB’s plotline. Good to know that she more or less is aware that Kingpin killed Ben. No one answers questions of plot like Gaston, and I liked how he answered my question of how public was the knowledge of Kingpin being Ben’s killer was. Now to learn that he’s only ever been a suspect allows it all to fall into place. The crew knowing they can’t kill BB off without it looking even more like open racism than killing her uncle did. You would hope so, anyway. Excellent catch with the song symbolism. Kingpin doing Gene Hackman proud was terrific. The moment with Matt and Vanessa, the reference you said sprang to mind, as did hearing Gwyneth Paltrow yelling the same thing to Matt Damon, and Jonathan Banks as Mike saying it to the cops at the one bar. The payoff was likewise fantastic. How this all plays out, I’m here for it. Just hope that neither Kingpin nor Vanessa die, much though Jess would be very ok with that, more so Vanessa.
