"I find primitive physical violence distressing.", "So do I, ma'am. Especially when I'm on the receiving end.", The Inquisitor and the Doctor, "The Mysterious Planet" This is a fun story - especially the Mysterious Planet bits. Bob Holmes was quite ill when he was writing this story so some scenes in parts 3 and 4 were additions by the production team as these episodes were underrunning. "Oh! My head hurts abominably, Sarah Jane. Where are we?", "I'm not Sarah Jane, I'm Peri.", The Doctor and Peri, "The Mysterious Planet" A 3rd Doctor impression and a Sarah Jane reference - these callbacks are from around 12-years earlier broadcast time - for us, as we progress through our weekly-ish Classic Who marathon together, it's been around 3-years. "Well, you didn't fool him, telling him you're a philatelist, did you, Mr Glitz?", Dibber, "The Mysterious Planet" Funny. "I would therefore suggest that you change it for the garment of quite another sort of yard. That of the knackers' yard. For your argument is as tired and warn out as the poor, unfortunate creatures that end up there.", The Doctor, "The Mysterious Planet" FYI: in the dated sense a "knacker's yard" was a place where old animals were taken to be slaughtered. "Don't think about it, Dibber. You'll give yourself a hernia.", Glitz, "The Mysterious Planet" These two! One of the most enduring memories of the Bob Holmes' stories is the interplay of his stories' characters - the Inter Minor official tribunal in "Carnival of Monsters", Irongron and Bloodaxe in "The Time Warrior", Jago and Litefoot in "The Talons of Weng-Chiang", Garron and Unstoffe in "The Ribos Operation". And now Glitz and Dibber. "Five rounds rapid should do the trick.", Glitz, "The Mysterious Planet" Channeling the Brig in "The Dæmons" - we love it! "Perhaps at last we shall find the habitat of the Canadian goose.", Balazar, "The Mysterious Planet" I love Balazar and the H M Stationery Office and Canadian goose lines - very funny. But I was waiting for a "Moby Dick" or "The Water-Babies" reference. "Well, that's one up to me, I think. There can't be many people who can literally claim to have saved the entire universe.", The Doctor, "The Mysterious Planet"
