even though im not a Walking Dead fan, i do love the joke with having Lucille, and the quip “Dad would have loved this”. Its a great shout out to Jeffery Dean Morgan, but also a nice reminder of John, now that Mary is back. I also kind of love that they have it specifically in this episode where Dean and Sam both start openly agreeing to work with the Brits, because you know that monster killing obsessed John Winchester would have signed up with the Brits day 1 if it meant killing more monsters, since we all know he really was very black and white when it came to supernatural beings, and zero nuance. Proof- he told Dean to kill Sam if he had to (Toni would have loved him lol). I think John would have been proud of his boys for taking advantage of such a cause. Also, fun fact: Sam Winchester remains the only human on this show to have killed a hellhound, let alone 2 of them, in combat. We have seen hellhounds killed by angels and demons before, and Ellen and Jo took some out in an explosion, but Sam is the only one who has killed them in hand-to-hand combat. And, honestly, given everything Hell has done to him specifically, i think we can all agree Sam deserves it. I also love the ending scene! Watching the boys use healthy, open communication in a respectful, mutual understanding way is so refreshing! Yeah, Sam did lie but Dean could clearly understand why he did, and, honestly on the scale of Winchester lies, this is barely a blip. It’s no demon blood, or letting an angel possess their brother. They explained their points of view and came to a shared understanding, an all together impossible feat during earlier seasons lol. Definitely a great episode!

Was a good joke having the Lucille cameo. Feel a little bad for Jess with that reference as the one scene with Negan was very traumatic for her. Makes me feel guilty for having Negan as my second favorite character of The Walking Dead. My favorite being the character Alpha, played by Samantha Morton. Love the villains, as has been my reputation since preschool, which does mean that I live for when Jess lives for the scenes like Crowley had. But yeah, good reference. John would certainly have loved the Brits, probably making him sound very Negan. Sam does have the good track record with the hellhounds. Favorite scene in this episode was Crowley’s big moment. Particularly great when he has that statement of fact, “You cross me, I crush you. You hit me, I hit you back twice as hard. You make me your dog, I make you my slave.” which has a similar energy to Joe Pesci in Casino, and I loved it. As I say, I’m big into the villains, so Jess says that she rather enjoyed that scene, no judgments from me. See that we have the shared appreciation for the open communication at the end. Sam had the good touch of owning up to the fact that he lied and offered the sincere apology. And good on Dean for listening. You can tell that there’s the voice in Dean’s head telling him, “You did say that you wanted Sam to abandon the peacemaker shtick and just pick a side for once.” to which Dean silently replies “Yeah, I did say that, didn’t I?” and that factors into him listening to Sam. Helps further that Sam admits that he still doesn’t like the British Men of Letters. And it is great how the boys come to an understanding, and great for Dean to make clear that the second things feel even ever so slightly bad, they call the team-up off. Sam agrees by saying “Done”, I said with respect, “As you were.” I also love how Sam has Mick listed as “Frodo” on his phone contacts. Like mother, like son.
