Not as much diving into just what Natalie is as I was expecting after that ending, but there's still enough attention being put on how this shouldn't be happening that it feels like there's some big reveal coming. And in the meantime, I don't mind waiting because she's just so fun. Lyric Ross was a delight in This Is Us, until she got screwed over just like all the other young actors in the final season, and it's a blast to see her bring all that same energy here. It's also much appreciated that the show immediately negates the possibility that Riri is just imagining Natalie with other people seeing her, plus she's well aware that she's not the real person, so we don't need to waste time on any of those stock scenes. And I dug the gag with the Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society. Love seeing you get so attached to her throughout this whole thing, most of all with the texting. And yeah, I ship it a bit. Let's not act like there haven't been weirder pairings in this genre; Riri's now friends with Alden Ehrenreich and everything. Speaking of, I was immediately impressed by how not Han Solo he is here, and it helps that they came up with the exact right scenario to get everyone sympathizing with him no matter how shady he might seem. And it's quite unpredictable where he's being set up to go here, between the various personality quirks, occasional microaggressions, and that whole ending (and thanks for shoving it right in the camera; I never could have figured out what happened without that). One more thing I'm thankful isn't being saved for some supposed big twist later: John Laurens being a bad guy. And he's still another one where there's so much different stuff going on with him that it's very hard to figure out where it could be going, but I don't mind waiting for it because the actor is just fun to hang around with. I was already leaning into this after the first episode, and now I'm fully onboard.

No worries about the neighbor, lawn mowing-wise. You said that, and I had to pause as either one of my neighbors, or just someone in the neighborhood is doing the same thing, so it really was no bother, noise-wise. Didn’t notice you sounding congested in the first reaction, but I could hear it more in this reaction. No problem, it happens. Now to the episode. Another solid episode. Getting the sense that this will be like Quantumania in that, sure it may not be the most spectacular MCU project, but it is shaping up to be a fun time. We follow up the ending with Natalie9000. Love how you live for her rather quickly. Riri’s comments on how AI is designed to obey, yeah, well, clearly, she’s not seen 2001 A Space Odyssey, nor, clearly, is anyone in her family an alumnus of U of I. I would say more, but I don’t want to spoil an upcoming reaction. Love how she made herself known to Ronnie, and Mom and Bestie had a good talk. Got sidetracked by the song she talked about. I don’t know this “Bonnie and Clyde ‘03” song. (Is that the title they said? “Bonnie and Clyde ‘03”?) Like how we get a bit more of a deep dive into the criminal gang. You speak well of Riri should not trust the Hood any more than she can throw him as the red flags are higher than the Sears Tower there. Again, like Muse, never seen the character before, so I can’t speak to his comic variant. One thing he does have going for him is that he does not seem to be overly prejudiced or bigoted given how he addresses Slug as they/them, and never even makes anything of it. Just runs with it, uses the proper pronouns, no problem. Give him points for that one. He is evasive with the questions, such as how the paychecks work. With you on feeling it a legitimate question of how the gang gets the bread in the operations. You heard Slug is on your side, as they chimed in by noting that the question was fair as well, so you got Shea in your corner on that one. Good on Riri for talking to Natalie9000 about that. Good use of the Sam quote that you greatly appreciated. Worth noting too that the crew does seem quite good at what they do, you giving props to Slug especially. With the acrylics and everything, I should have known that you would comment on that. Riri needed to make her suit better, so she made the trip to Evanston. She borrows the Cubs blanket from the group of Cubs fans, one of whom I saw wearing the World Series moichandise. Gave me a big smile. Noticing too that in Riri’s family, there seems to be more White Sox moichandise or posters than Cubs. (Which I’m not going to hold against them.) I imagine they were quite happy when they heard word about the new Pope. Bringing us to Live, Laugh, Love guy, played by Alden Ehrenreich, who I heard he was going to be in this. See we agree on the excessive Live, Laugh, Love signs. I was puzzled by that myself, saying, “What is this, your fucking mantra or something?” so it’s comforting to see that you called it out too and that we both focused on that rather than all the other stuff. Progress that he threw at least one of them out. Can understand him saying that the bunker makes him feel closer to his dad. My brother’s sort of got that in his career path, you can tell was influenced by our parents’ respective professions, so I can get behind that. You feel for him too having to deal with the dog lady Karen. Rather love how quickly you declared the dog lady Karen to be the worst. Gave me a real good laugh, Jess. I’m a cat person myself, but I’d imagine that if you go walking with a dog, you bring those baggies with you. Loved the look in your eyes at that part. Suddenly, you think that Robert De Niro was onto something with how he housetrained Jinxy cat. Live, Laugh, Love guy, and Riri do have a fun dynamic thus far, complete with bonding over Alanis, good note about Disney cutting off the lyrics before the song got too darn dysfunctional and Generation Xy. Gives him the confidence boost at the end with the flowers. The defiance and the savagery, like you said. Everyone seems to most want to dive into Natalie9000, and the intrigue increases when the trauma button got hit in the one scene with the guard. We are wary of their not being enough time to dive into it to our satisfaction, but I am cautiously optimistic that they will at least have one real good scene with it. They already destroyed us both with Ronnie asking if Riri could make an AI of Gary. That got too fucking real. Saw how it got you in the heart, affected me the same way. See how it goes with the plotline going forward. Other small notes. The line Riri had about Xavier quoting Star Wars, rather than being “Trekkies for life”, made me groan, and ask, “Really, we’re doing that elementary school shit again?” Also, you mention about there being some very lovely characters in Orange is the New Black. If you say so. Haven’t seen it. I know one big spoiler about one character given how everyone chatters away about how PISSED they were when a certain something happened to said character. Thanks for another fun Ironheart reaction, Jess.

Or you just train the dog to only do it in particular spots. That's what my family's always done without much trouble. The big irony of that Orange is the New Black scene I'm pretty sure you're talking about is it was written by the actress' girlfriend, now wife.

Feels like they’re giving us the looking price with Natalie9000. The grand reveal, if any, comes later. Didn’t recognize Lyric Ross from anything, so your comment is the first I’m informed that she was on This is Us. Good note on quickly establishing Natalie9000 as real and not just in Riri’s head. The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society first made me think of Jay and Silent Bob, but then thought, “No, wait, that’s not right.”, googled, and remembered, “Ah, Red Dwarf, check.” Glad you and Jess enjoyed the texting bit; I’d be driven up a wall by that. Considering, as you note, there are weirder pairings in this universe, add on one or two of my own ships means I’m not one to talk or judge, I endorse your shipping in this one. Please, by all means. It’s funny you should say about Alden and how not Han Solo he is here. My introduction to him was in Hail, Caesar!, and later heard he got cast as Han, it had me intrigued. Man’s got some range, here being no exception. Especially with what you said, between the personality quirks, the occasional microaggression, and that ending, hard to gauge him right away, yet he is fundamentally sympathetic enough. I kind of felt like they were upfront about the Hood being the villain, I mean, that elevator scene was Saw shit. There IS the question of how noble he is, or thinks he is, and as you observe, where exactly we’re going with him. Looking forward to more.
