Death Stranding: Director's Cut Review Discussion and Spoilercast | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 468

It's true: Death Stranding is a nearly six-year-old game, and its PS5 port -- the Director's Cut -- came out back in 2021. So no, this isn't exactly a timely posting. Or is it? After all, Death Stranding 2 launched on PlayStation 5 in recent weeks, and with it, many people are looking backwards towards where it all began, including me (Colin). Indeed, I've spent an ungodly amount of time with it en route to a Platinum Trophy. So I figured, why not get some content out of it? To talk about the experience in-depth, please welcome Punching Up's Gene Park and Summon Sign's Brad Ellis for a rousing chat about perhaps Kojima's most powerful (and zaniest?) work to date. And remember: Chris and I discussed the original way back in November of 2019 as well, so if you're looking for that episode, it's Episode 17 (yes, 17!) of Sacred+.

Wyatt the Riot

Quick note on what Colin said on wildlife. He states close to the end that presumably all wildlife is extinct, but it's in the very first cutscene of the game that you see birds and deer fleeing from the time fall.

Jam

I dont think enough credit was given to the voidout mechanic. The first time I was eaten by a catcher in the mountains and was so surprised that it changed the terrain for the rest of my playthrough.
