Cronos: The New Dawn Review Discussion and Spoilercast | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 479

It's me, Colin. Please welcome Matty of Defining Duke fame to Sacred+ for a one-on-one conversation all about Bloober's recent survival horror release, Cronos. The reality is this: We both loved the game, and we're sad it's not selling more. So we thought we'd do our part in breaking down this surprising alternate history-slash-period thriller, both for those who played it and those interested in learning more (though you should keep in mind that -- as always -- we spoil the heck out of everything here). There's something special at the center of New Dawn; indeed, it's both a familiar title and one that draws from so much around it, that it's all quite novel and unique, even in an industry flooded with options. So without further ado, it's time to learn more about what happens when you smush Dead Space, Parasite Eve, Singuarity, The Evil Within, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture into one shockingly cohesive, cogent package.

Just completed the game as well, absolutely loved it. Only nitpick for me is the lead up to the final boss. It felt like they just kept throwing waves & waves of enemies at you. It started to feel a little tedious. But once you face the final boss it goes back on track. One of the best games of the year thus far.

Just beat the game, really enjoyed it, really cool setting and atmosphere. Really liked the charging gun mechanic too, something about it charging just in time and blowing an enemy apart just as they’re about to attack you. Starting the plat run now!
