Crisplet hasn't done a lot of things to illustrate their youth. They haven't made a mistake I can remember once while cooking or made any mistakes with sculpting. The constant default to intuitive competence doesn't feel compatible with sudden lack of it for me.

I'd actually argue this is very in line with all instances of crisplet prior, its stated over and over again he's very young, and acts that way, in all epilogues he's appeared in this is consistent. maintaining a heat for a fire elemental is natural, its not a skill. Adding as an edit here* he was born into the world as a cooking companion, a skill companion, that would come with the inherent ability to be able to cook, and it not being a learned skill compared to the scenario if Trev were to befriend a fire companion and train it separately* You wouldn't see crisplet's failed sculptures however even saying this the last few chapters he's literally making sculptures over and over again out of sight hiding them to practice, but across all 3 books crisplet has been consistently practicing his building, from copying milo, to expanding on what he copied off milo, to working on his own. So respectfully, I'm going to disagree.
