Great tribute Uncle Ben, I have paid homage to Brent last night since I suffered a bout of insomnia by listening to my favourite Mastodon album, Crack The Skye. That's been my introduction to the band when I was in high school, around 2010. I got in on CD and the first track Oblivion to me is a perfect representation of all the things that make Mastodon one of the best metal bands of the last 20 years. And that's in no small part thanks to Brent's flawed by hearfelt vocal delivery, unorthodox riffs and leads. He was crucial in making the band so distinctive. That's why I was pretty surprised when the split happened... the news of his death left me speechless, and listening to the album that made me a Mastodon fan yesterday night was very emotional. He will be missed, but never forgotten. A terrific and distinctive musician, Rest in power Brent.

Great tribute and beautifully executed. I first saw Hinds with Mastodon on a cold January 28th 2003 here in Berlin, probably their first Euro run and maybe 40 punters in attendance. Seems like a life time ago ... Rest easy Mr Hinds
