Hey Matt, what did you think of Roshi and Goku’s weird Jackie Chun song and dance number? Easily one of the hardest laughs I ever had in the entire series Also all the talk about blowing up the moon and nobody brought up Tim Robbins in Austin Powers

New Styx song: “I once had a dream to build a machine so fast it breaks through the skyyyyy!” Released May this year lol

Cracking up because my first thought when you were talking about the Gundam plaque was "I can't pay no doctor bills, but Gundams on the moon" which, if America had Gundams, is exactly where we'd all find ourselves so the political poignancy stands I think.

Wish I had known from the start not to watch this on Netflix - the quality is so bad! I watched 30 seconds of a Gurren Lagann YouTube compilation and the quality was so much better that I just turned off my phone

I related so hard about the conversation around taking a foreign language class. I took a intro to Chinese class in college with 10 Japanese exchange students who had experience with Chinese from High school and two other native English speaker whose wife was Chinese and one who always had a fedora on and response to seeing my tattoos was to take off his shirt in the middle of the hallway and show off his very gothic inspired cathedral back tattoo. Needless to say I was left in the dust and could not keep up with the pace our professor set . I couldn't even pass our gimme per-thanksgiving Chop Stick exam, due to a low grade tremor. To add insult to injury, at the end of the semester I visited my advisor, who asked "Why are you taking Chinese, you don't need a language for your major". After handing in my exam, the professor asked me "are you planning on taking Chinese again next semester" I sheepishly said "of course" and she for some unknown reason gave me a B for the semester, I never saw her again.

Just wanna say thanks to Heather, Nick & Matt because listening to the pod improved my recent trip to LA. I visited Little Tokyo and ate a delicious Japanese curry with tonkatsu. At Kinokuniya Bookstore I bought the Miyazaki manga Shuna's Journey and the travel issue of Popeye, plus the latest Hobby Japan for my friend who's into gunpla. And at the gashapon shop I scored a cute little Pochita from Chainsaw Man. Love y'all, keep up the great work!

That shot from the top of the tree in ep 21 is one of my favourite shots in the whole show with the blue and red sky. Along with Yoko making the allusion to young Simon, I like the matching imagery from one of the final shots in episode 1, when they burst from the ground into the sky where it did the same wide view of moon and sun across the horizon. I just think it’s very pretty - unless you’re on Netflix which trashed the visuals of the show it seems.

I have a Crock-Pot party appetizer recipe for grape meatballs. it's just a bag of frozen Italian meatballs, a bottle of any style BBQ sauce, and a whole jar of Concord grape jelly (heat 2-4 hours). These meatballs are so simple and tasty, but now I will imagine this is what Grape Hippo tastes like.

No idea if this is the best place to get a recommendation in, but I think everyone would like Don't Stop The Camera aka One Cut Of The Dead. It's hard to explain why it's so good without giving it away - there's no huge twist per se, it just has...layers. Especially great viewing for anyone familiar with the process of making movies. It's not quite a Japanese Shaun Of The Dead, but if the idea of that resonates, definitely check it out. It's available for rent on Amazon and Apple in the States ot *ahem* just sail the seven seas...
