it’s been really great hearing Nick get into more into tokusatsu! i’ll always recommend Ultraman for more fun kaiju stuff, but i also just watched a neat little movie called Mechanical Violator Hakaider that’s kind of a combination of Terminator, Escape From New York, and Akira’s bike sequences. very little plot, just 77 minutes of great music and cool shit happening. it’s a great intro the the non-kaiju side of toku!

We could be watching Utena or Nadia or even Sailor Moon but no, let's watch the Golan & Globus/Canon of anime. Can we at least get Nick on a solo episode talking about Ninja Scroll, since he bought the blu-ray?

I just got out of a showing for the 4k re-release of Shin Godzilla! What a fucking movie to see on the big screen! Every single time the ‘Decisive Battle’ theme from Evangelion was used (and it comes up a lot) I caught both myself and the person sitting a couple seats away from me tapping along with the drum beats. Shoutout to Hideaki Anno-san for discovering the best musical beat to signal determination and using it in a project 30 years later.

I'm surprised that no one called out the Gundam reference in the episodes. Not only a Gundam reference but Heather's boy Char. It was in 11 I think taking about custom clubs and said something like Char's custom model.
