Last update of the year. Dunno how I feel about this since half was written with a fever. Enjoy.

HABBY NEW YEAR! The idea that the four types that are Psychic, Fairy, Ghost and Dark all evade scientific understanding because they are quite literally *unquantifiable* in comparison to concrete types, such as water, is an amazing concept! Functionally speaking, while an Earth type is tied to the rocks and geology of nature, a psychic type is bound to a sort of magical system. In laymans terms, they are magic types. Fairy also being something more sinster than "happy funtime type" makes coherent sense when you delve into fairytales of old. The fairies of old, or the Fae, were sinister, mysterious and volatile beings that were just as likely to give you great boons as they were to horribly kill you. Fairy types being weak to steel (similar to hiw fae are weak to iron) adds to this. Ninetales powers are tied to her and Lee's emotional reponses? Makes absolute sense with the above descriptions - they are not dealing with your standard coherent typing, they are working with the esoteric, the unknown. A kitsune of legend is closest to souls, so of course its natural that a Ninetales power comes from the very typing that represents the soul. And oh my, I feel sorry for Brendan and ESPECIALLY Courtney. The fact she has probably been thoroughly indoctrinated and probably brainwashed into the equivilent of a doomsday cult is a horrible fate for her character. I doubt it will be the case, but I hope Lee and the gang figure out how to release her from Maxies madness.

You are fantastic

See yall next year!

Feel better. But it's very enjoyable read

Happy new year! And hoooo boy, those two conditions are horrible! But understandable... Two whole different lifespans, two different minds, connected that closely like no one ever had before makes for a whole lot of trouble. And I find it rather sad that they are forced to lower the use of the thing that has kept them strong throughout this entire journey. In a certain sense, teaching Ninetales something to look for besides her love of Lee is like teaching her to accept she will someday will live without him. It's sad, and cruel too since none of them want to be separated. It's... a kind of resignation, don't you think? Still, what matters it's what's going now, and there's still no set decision, there's still the important talk with the psychic master... and the choice Brendan will make upon hearing this revelation. And what Zinnia and Lee will do about it. Aagghh this story is so good! I can't wait to read more of it! Have a happy new year!

Happy New Year! Wonderful chapter. Lokoko's theory is certainly food for thought. Afterall, is not the greatest men in history those with the greatest desires, and what are desires if not emotions?

Rehan

Happy New Year! Thank you for the chapter update and I hope we reach that threshold for you writing full time soon!

Hey Fuggman, in case you didn't know or didn't think of it (cause the repair shop guy certainly didnt), lithium ion batteries are dead simple to charge. There is no need to engineer a new charger (though it might be intended that Lee shot himself in his foot here by being overly specific in requesting a replacement charger and not a way to charge the phone, take it what it may). If you simply take out the battery and test which contacts are kathode and anode, you can apply a reverse current until the battery is charged again. If you dont give a fuck about how nice its going to look, you could even drill a hole in the back of the phone when its opened, solder in two cables, a diode and a little mechanical off-switch to the battery to avoid applying a reverse voltage while the phone is powered on, and you can recharge it anywhere, anytime by turning it off and using something to apply the appropriate voltage and amperage. Could even actually use an Electric Pokemon if it can apply a steady enough voltage. Even simpler, you could just rip out the battery and connect the phone to a wall plug. Even if Lee has an Iphone with a charging chip in the battery itself that prevents the phone from being powered on without one, it should be simplicity itself to rig up a charging solution that doesn't fry the chip or transfering the chip to a Pokemonworld-native battery if you have a Porygon to help you. Those chips are not complicated, and when in doubt, you could still theoretically connect the reverse voltage *behind* the chip on the two traces directly on the circuit board that are designed to take the reverse voltage anyways, though that is going so take a tiny ass drill and a bit of precision soldering. So even with copious amounts of redneck engineering this would be easy and relatively solid and safe for the microelectronics. Those are just the top of the head ideas I had in five minutes. Man if that repair guy didn't just misunderstand what Lee wanted, I just hope he is a programmer clueless about electronics that got that job because its the second best job for someone with a porygon that couldn't land a job in cyber sec, because in any other scenario I mourn for that tragically shortlived Porygon of that moron. If he got that Porygon because they can do all the work for you even if you don't know shit, then RIP to that Porygon. Honestly, reading about caring for Porygons broke my heart Fuggman.

Maybe the Pokemon world doesnt use horribly destructive lithium ion batteries and instead uses some safer, cheaper and far more enviromentally friendly alternatve instead?

It broke suspension of disbelief a little when lee and ninetails needed it explained to them the connection between Lee's aversion to fire and her skill with it. I think it's a good idea to at least write lee having an idea of what's going on, but then maybe asking for clarification as well because he doesn't know if he's correct?

Edit: Did the guy I was replying to delete his post? My Comment is suddenly no longer a reply but its own post. I can still see their reply, but can't reply or like it anymore. For context, they were talking about how maybe the Pokemon world just doesnt use unsafe and environmentally damaging materials like lithium Lithium isnt inherently worse for the environment than any other natural resource being mined. We know that there is plenty mining going on in the Pokemon world, Sinoh come to mind specifically. I think its more likely that resource extraction isnt so bad when you have Pokemon. With Pokemon, Lithium becomes less problematic than other resources even, as most of the environmental impact comes from the large water requirements for lithium evaporation ponds. If you can just make more water with Water TE, you arent destroying local water supplies. If you have Garbador and Muk on hand, toxic byproducts arent so dramatic anymore. Also, even if they use some magic Silph batteries, I dont see them magically not run on the same physical principles that make all rechargable batteries be recharged by applying reverse voltage without also using Electric TE nonsense that would make your Pikachu actually able to charge your phone. And even then you can just open the damn phone and swap the battery for a full one, or hook it up to a variable power source right at the battery contacts. You can *at least try* to open it up and read what it says on the battery label ffs. If the charging chip is in the phone ( wich is normal) and not the battery, you literally just have two pins that you put a voltage on and it just works. Batteries are not that complicated. Even if they use less flamable alternatives, I dont see them operating on such alien principles that they somehow become complicate to use. I just think its more likely that either repair guy is meant to be a monkey with a screwdriver, or it didnt occur to the author that you could just skip over the charging port altogether, in which case "thats way too complicated, no can do" is an appropriate response. In the latter case this can still easily be remidied without rewrites by making repair guy #1 a clueless moron and repsir guy #2 give a better answer next chapter.

Giant Sloth

It'd be cool to see Lee and Octillery talk over some nerdy research since Octi has already learned to read/write and is such a sciency guy.

MegaZeroX

It's not letting me access the docs for some reason. Does this have to do with the patreon subscription renewal period?
