Why these translations are so half assed

Danis

It looks like something funky was going on with your subs (half of the lines were missing in some parts). About the books that Ung left at the library, this is the part where the whole point of the shot gets lost in translation (wouldn't blame the translator, i'm a professional translator myself and it's just impossible with these things). The stacked books, if you read the first character of the titles vertically, they line up to form "I like early summer" which is the Korean title for the webtoon prequel for Our Beloved Summer, the drama.

For me both Ji Ung and NJ are the same side of the coin. Not only because they're the second lead in unrequited love for the main lead that we all know would never work out. But also because we haven't seen any of them laugh or smile genuinely until they're with or talking about the person they like (Yeon Su and Ung respectively). Like Ji Ung said in episode 5, he's been imitating happiness all this time and the only time he's been actually smiling is when he's with Yeon Su meaning that's the only time he's not imitating happiness anymore. Which just makes Ji Ung's character more heart breaking knowing there's no way he'll end up with her.

Omg like half of sentences are gone in the subtitles. Is it netflix?

I think the running away theme in this episode is not only physical but also emotional, he physically removed himself all his life from numerous situations, she emotionally disconnected. Now he is a little bit different, he has been more confrontational, facing things and vocalizing it, specially with her and she feels it and I think that encourages her to face her own behavior. This is them giving one step forward to meet in the middle I guess.
