Oh and also!! A little easter egg with the Saja Boys' name: Saja (사자) means lion, with the obvious nod to their power, but it's also a shortened version of "jeoseung-saja" (저승사자), which are like the Korean folklore equivalents of grim reapers that guide souls to the afterlife.

I like you guys' breakdown of your thoughts about the whole redeemable thing for Jinu, and what if Celine did was right or wrong. Even the whole shipping thing of Jinu and Rumi. So far, you guys have different opinions than other reactors (at least those that I watched) who ship them immediately as you see the whole thing differently through morality. At least you guys think Jinu is redeemable in the end. Now I'm questioning it😅 Also, didn't think I would actually love this movie, only into kpop very recently. Maybe if there is a sequel and somehow Jinu lives, they could make it where Jinu wants to be more redeemable by trying to give the souls back to whom they were stolen from, and bring back those that went missing (killed i guess). By then you guys can finally ship Rujinu wholeheartedly 😂

This is a week later, but I loved your reaction, so I wanted to leave a comment here anymway! Here are some of my thoughts on Jinu, is gonna be a bit long, but I hope people read it as well! I love Jinu because he is a character that got affected by a lot of external forces. Just to tell some of my personal opinions in why even tho I don't excuse his actions, I also understand why a lot of things happen the way they did and why I see redeemable qualities since early on: Jinu lived in the Joseon era, where the King is practically like a god. So if you put Jinu's situation in a historically accurate setting, you can infer (by both flashback versions we see) that after Jinu accepted the deal with Gwima to have a better life, became a talented musician and then gotten noticed by the King, Jinu arrived at the palace's gate WITH his family (So this confirms at least for me, that he did it to have a better life with his family, not for himself), but the guards stopped his family from entering. So, as a peasant, he had only 2 options really, one: Refuse the King's request to enter the palace alone (which historically, refusing the king's order as a peasant will actually get you killed and probably would have gotten his family killed as well) or two: Accept the King's request and enter the palace by himself (even if it meant leaving his family behind but alive) So my interpretation is that he decided to enter the palace alone to protect his family (You can actually see his shocked face looking back at his family as the palace gates close, so I think he didn't know his family wasn't also invited in in the first place) Also, once you enter the palace, even if he was praise by the king, if the king wanted him to stay around, he wouldn't have had the liberty to go out of the palace on his own will. So now imagine Jinu lived all those years at the palace without knowing if his family was still alive AND also now Gwima guilt tripping him into thinking that leaving his family behind was entirely his fault (remember Jinu says he always hears Gwima in his ear) when in reality I think Jinu was victim of the times, and a lot of the decisions he made were done out of a very limited pool of options in which powerful people ruled over and practically ruined his life. Then imagine being manipulated into thinking for 400 years straight with hourly reminders in your mind that you are the reason why your family was destroyed, of course Jinu was gonna think that he was hopeless, not worth living for and thus why he wanted the memories of when he was alive (the only thing that kept his soul still human) erased and gone. Jinu is really a tormented soul, and when you live with hopelessness for so many years (and knowing that that's gonna be your existence for the rest of eternity) I understand why souls like Jinu just give up, and then many turn into full demons without humanity. So because of this Jinu specifically was being manipulated by Gwima to gather souls, if Jinu brought souls to Gwima, the memories that tormented him were promised to be gone and his suffering would be gone too (tho we all know Gwima is the source of suffering to Jinu, and he is the demon king and would not let Jinu free whatsoever, he was just manipulating him and would continue to do so for eternity) Now, we technically don't see Jinu taking anyones soul BUT he did plan out everything to grab the souls, and even tho this is a product of manipulation, he still did the deed, so he is hold accountable for that. That's why I think that Jinu giving his soul to Rumi is the perfect redemption, because that's a toll he had to pay for all the souls that were stolen, but also is setting him free from Gwima. So, this is why I was on board with the ship, even knowing Jinu's backstory, cause he is a complex character with a complex story that did had redeemable qualities in my eyes. RUJINU FOREVER! (I promise I'm not biased hahaha) Thank you to the people who took their time to read all this!

Ethereal

Music anime is such an untapped potential in my opinion. The Macross franchise is known for it but there aren't many.

Taithos

This movie is so good. I have seen it way more times than i would like to admit. Also fun fact they have already confirmed there will be a sequel releasing in 2028.

I just noticed that in the end credits cartoons the girls and human Jinyu all have idol eyes like Ai

Well, consider that Jinu was vulnerable, which is exactly why Qwi-Ma targets him with his offer, after breaking him down and targeting his insecurities. I'm sure there's a grooming analogy to be made there with not much effort. I'd also argue that manipulating him into a Faustian bargain and then punishing him for 400 years for it isn't exactly him getting off free and dandy. Would I do or allow evil to be done to escape eternal torment after 400 years of it? Dunno, probably.

I ended up watching this on a whim and all the songs have been stuck in my head lol.
