About the Yuki/Miyamura subplot: It was a thing in the original manga/webtoon but the anime skips it.

So after this season, I hope you'll be watching Horimiya: the missing pieces. This is basically slice of life episodes that happened in the season but where not included in the first season. Very wholesome and a super fun watch after you fall in love with the characters

I would like to say we get it and you don't need to explain yourselves, but man some of these comments really act like they take everything you say or think as a personal insult lol 😅 but at the very least, I get you. I'm more like Steph with the energy of Wes lol I'm very much a "assume innocence" type person after having it drilled into me by my mom for so long, because she had the experience of one person who treated her badly one day, she was super nasty to them and then she found out shortly after they died of cancer and the day they had a bad interaction, the lady was told she was terminal. So she always tells me this story to remind me to lead with kindness even if someone is rude in the moment, because hurt people hurt people. But I ALSO am easily frustrated and grumpy, so I'll be kind to people but then huff and puff about them being rude for a while 😂 but I want to learn to be more like Steph, you remind me of my cousin who as a Leo, I liken to her a lioness all the time. She's kind until you give her reason not to be, then she will nicely bite your head off with the calm rationale and sophistication of a disappointed teacher and I love and admire it 🤣 she'll be like "you sir, are an incompetent man-child who needs to sit down, shut up, and let your wife talk" (said to my father one time) but yeh, I want to be better at boundary setting and not allowing people to take advantage of my kindness or act disrespectful to me, so I really admire that fiery protective personality trait ☺️ but then when it comes to shows, I'm practically a villain like "if that was me, I'd have ripped his hand off for that" and it'd just be them pulling someone's earbuds out rudely or something lol it just makes shows more fun by putting yourself in them

Totally forgot to comment on the show 😅 but I'm not sure, but I get the impression that much of the administrative duties in schools fall to the students in Japan, like clubs and such. My friend told me about how the meals would sometimes even be made and served by students, or the class president would be responsible for assigning cleaning duties and getting other students to quiet down for the teachers and do the morning bow. That's why they have the senpai/kouhai dynamic, because senpai are responsible for their younger schoolmates, helping them study, assigning roles, taking leadership roles in clubs and if kouhai get in trouble, it falls on the senpai to take responsibility and get punished for it, with the kouhai and then it's their job to reprimand them. Also, to explain some of the nuances of the show, Hori is very concerned with outward appearances because in Japan, your public "face" is very important socially. More than we understand here. So she wants to be seen as trendy and girly, but the reality is she's a brutish tomboy and practically a teen mom, which could get her ostracized. So in a way, she's purposely putting herself in a box, whereas Miya feels he is placed in a box, whether he dresses like he normally does, or hides that side of himself. He's either judged as a smarty loner loser, he's judged as a delinquent yanki asshole troublemaker type and people will be scared of him. To use my friend as an example again (I should apologize to him one day for using his stories so much lol) he is tanned with bleached hair in one section, riddled with piercings and tattoos, but he's the sweetest, funniest dude you'll ever meet. But given his looks, he's instantly treated as a monster. He told me about a time where he tried to help an old lady when her bag ripped open, and she actually screamed and beat him with her cane because she thought he'd rob her, or just sitting on the train, some baseball team of teens were murmering "people like that are scary, they need to be banned from public spaces" and stuff, and when he looked up at them, one of them told him he needed to move to a different car, so he politely told them "no monk looking kid is going to scare me into moving my seat. I'm just quietly sitting and doing nothing" and they got uppity and got the staff to actually make him move to make the kids feel safer. 😮‍💨 I get so mad for him but that is how people treat "scary looking" people there, or just avoid them completely like they are pariahs when they just like alternative stuff. So I imagine that's kinda why Hori and Miya click together, because they are both acting as people they are not in public and together, they can be their real selves with no judgement. My theory is that's why there's that box symbolism in the intro 🤔 (Also, this is conjecture, I can't for the life of me remember how this show goes or whether this will be relevant at all or accurate to the show, so nobody confirm or deny spoilers pls)

Absolutely love Horimiya, one of my favorite romance mangas after Dangers in my Heart and Fragrant flower. Loving the reactions! Also any updates on this weeks dan da dan reactions?

Dawud Knight

Love the reaction. Definitely know the feeling of jumping the gun with an anime character. (sidewise glance at Apothecary Diaries).
