One thing I want to point out is that the Royal guards are literally children who never experienced humanity before. They were born with the nature of ants. Pitou felt kindness and humanity for the very first time when the king told me "Please. I'm counting on you." In that moment, just like Youpi, she immediately went through a drastic shift in personality. She appreciated the King's kindness, and was thankful that the King has became the way he is. I would almost go as far as to say that Pitou has become fundamentally good in that moment. When the king showed kindness, Pitou also became a kind person. And to be fair, that's how most people learn to be kind. We learn from the kindness other people show us.

I dont know, i really like Pouf 😆 he's funny as hell to me

Rockycitygirl

I agree about the character shift but I don’t really see any evidence of Pitou being/becoming kind. All Pitou cares about is what the King wants and acting in his interests.

Exit

I think you guys missed the narrator said “That was the intention” when Killua tried to buy some time. He actually cried for real

The Anime Dude

Pouf reminds me of an overbearing parent that already has an idea in his head of what his kid should be or do, and in pursuit of that ideal in his head - he’s a bit blind to or at least uncomfortable when it comes to facing the reality of who the king is as an individual, at least where it clashes with his ideal image. Interesting character for sure.

I also watched a lot of HxH reactions, and I agree with Astor's comment that you're the first reactors to appreciate Welfin. Many disliked the slow exchange between Welfin and Ikalgo (which partially is fair as people were waiting for King vs Netero fight continuation, but instead had to spend time with supporting characters), but I truly feel for Welfin's struggles - he was a member of NGL criminal group with pretty rough upbringing which, probably, created his level of distrust and paranoia, made him being unable to hold solid relationship with the exception of Gyro who shared with Welfin a similarly bleak childhood. You almost forget that it's ant enemy and see instead a tired human after Welfin comes to peace with his inner demons and feels good telling the truth, putting the trust into someone else. Underrated subplot, imo. The scene between Killua and Palm is beautiful, it shows true power of empathy. And Killua's breakdown is so relatable, like we're all were in some situations when close friend was suffering and we objectively couldn't help him or her. It's one of the worst experiences in life ever. Such depth lies in 12 years old anime/manga character, wild. Enjoyed the post reaction discussion "Pitou vs Pouf", very interesting comparisons. Since I rewatched HxH many times, I wouldn't be able to separate the knowledge about the whole Chimera Ants arc from the first time watch memories. But your POV on Royal Guards are the reason why I like to watch your reactions. You're definitely top tier HxH reactors, if not the best!

Solar Wind

So basically, they wanted to use the soldiers' memories to power them up without the detrimental emotional attachment to those memories that makes them disloyal, so they severed the connection between them. But the human brain is incredibly plastic and capable of growth and change, and emotional reactions are a complex interplay of multiple regions of the brain, so it's very hard to straight up cut them away from someone, maybe impossible. Killua's moment of sincere emotions ( for dishonest goals ) allowed Palm's brain to slowly reform the physically cut connections and reboot her own brain. It might also have to do something with the ant biology speeding up regeneration as well, and her being an Enhancer ( generally better at recovery ) plus a skilled Nen user ( if you remember, they mentioned early on that Nen users tend to grow older more slowly and maintain vitality, and Netero is an extreme example ).

Did Someone Tell Them to watch 130 and 131 togeter i realy Hope so otherwies WE end on 130

Rockycitygirl

They should do a triple drop for that week, if possible. That would also pair up 134 and 135 afterward with the normal schedule, which would be perfect. Maybe try to remind them the week before they’re supposed to watch 130.

eXxCeZz

Maybe I should have said this last week. 観音 (Avalokiteshvara (Bodhisattva) is the buddhist Deity for compassion. Just to give some perspective to Neteros power name, or what exactly the name refers to.

Renegade

"If you remember back to the first time, what outcome were you hoping for?" Bruh I'm not gonna lie the first time I watched this show I went "wow that's crazy" and hit the next episode button.

Killua breaking down with Palm was such a out-of-character scene considering how cool, calm, and collected he has been throughout the entire series. Also Palm low-key had a glow up.

Dell12 16

Palm's power is pretty cracked when you think about it, her hair basically acts as a layer of defense for her while using minimal aura, allowing her to put way more aura into every one of her attacks and since she's an Enhancer her physical attacks hit REALLY hard. It's honestly probably the ideal power for an Enhancer since it lets them focus even more at what they do the best, without even sacrificing on defense.
