I felt that Baekjin wanting Baku in the Union is definitely because he feels trapped. He was too deeply affiliated with the gang to leave in any other way that wouldn’t have had him winding up dead regardless and I think he knew that. Sieun even said as much when he confronted him - ‘you want Baku because you think he’s your only friend’. It’s so incredibly selfish to want to drag your supposed best friend into the same shitty circumstances you think you’re stuck in but there’s something about it that tugs at my heartstrings and makes me very sad for him. It’s a very childish desire to fixate on and risk his work for but he was exactly that - a child in the end. With Beomseok, watching the way he acted following him ‘finding’ power just made you feel uneasy and as if his motivations were always somewhat twisted and just couldn’t manifest since he was always beat down and defined as weak by others but it doesn’t necessarily feel the same way with Baekjin. At least not to me. Even though he most certainly is Baku’s Beomseok, I don’t think Beomseok would’ve evolved to be someone like Baekjin if he had gained more power. I don’t know if it would be worse or not but Baekjin seems like he’s in it for the money solely and has to ‘put up’ with everything else that comes with being a gangster. He’s not a victim since he’s definitely gone out of his way to be cruel and shown he himself has accepted a level of violence and force to get his way but again, he makes my heart sad. The actors look way older but when I think that they’re meant to be 18/19, I could cry all over again seeing his portrait in that funeral scene😭 Also 100% an orphan. In the flashback, young Baekjin looked nervous to bring Baku home because it’s obviously an orphanage but relaxed once Baku said “woah it’s so big and fancy! let’s play basketball”. Going off your discussion, I don’t see Seongje being in cahoots with the boss anytime soon. He’s a) disinterested and b) I don’t think the boss really messes with him after the police questioning issue. Probably next on the chopping block now that he’s rejected the offer lmao. I think it was to show that after all of that, it’s Seongje of all people who is actively concerned about Baekjin and trying to get into contact with him 💀 I think he genuinely thought they were friends, whatever that means to Seongje lol hence why he got so butthurt when Baekjin was so cold to him after he got beat up by Sieun 😭 What a journey, as always it’s been a pleasure to watch with the both of you. There are behind the scenes out there if you’re wanting a little interlude before your next drama endeavour but I’ll be looking forward to next week regardless! Take care :))

Could you watch the behind the scenes of this? ☺️ it’s a short video but it can show you how convincing their acting here is because of how they are in real life. Hehe.
