On why I think they killed the son and not thr father is cuz who'd would you rather come for you? An old drunk with a limp? Or a young, skilled fighter? Gold might work harder to get revenge, but he's got a shorter lifespan and a lot less testosterone fueled power by comparison

Facismm in the uk was talked about a lot in my history class (in the uk) and we learnt a lot more in depth about what the uk and Europe was like after the war, between the wars, parliament etc. but I don’t remember learning much about the US apart from when the US joined the war and when the stock market crashed. So I think most countries will be the same. Learn a lot about your own country and continent but less about the rest apart from main key factors like the world wars etc

As a whiskey nerd, implying irish was more complex than scotch felt like a line that could only be written by someone who either really knows their stuff or hasn't got a clue. Historically, around this time I think Ireland was still making pot still whiskey which does have more depth than the more cheaply made column still whiskey used to make most scotch at the time (and most whiskey today), and this was around the time campbletown which was known for cheaper production alcohol was falling into decline. If the writers knew that and threw it in to colour the time period then hats off, but my gut is it was some kind of foreshadowing that I missed when I watched. If it's based on modern whiskey, you wouldn't say irish is more complex than scotch, by all means you can prefer it, but Irish whiskey got simiplified massively when Middleton was making everyones spirits (similar to MGP, Heaven Hill and Buffallo Trace in america today), though irish is bouncing back. Regarding the interwar period stuff, yeah there major polarising factions rising up in the UK around this time, with Mosley being particularly infamous, but I don't think I learned about the political stuff until A-Level, GCSE I think it was more breakup of the british empire, great depression, prohibition i think, post-war Germany and MAYBE feminism but I think that was also A-level and of course the rise of hitler. I am a bit murky on what was secondary school (11 to 16) and what was A Level (16-18), I only did 3 months of history A Level and it was all british interwar period.
