Even if you loose your hearing you can still speak yes, but you can't hear yourself anymore so it must feel weird, and if they learn sign language they probably stop speaking at all at some point...and also they probably can't remember their own voice too...so I think it's more about not being used to/comfortable anymore with speaking out loud I'm watching the show with you so I don't know the explanation they give in the show but I'm quite curious I didn't know sign language and deaf characters would be part of the story and since I have a brother working in that community in my country for around 15 years now I know some stuff and am interested in the topic, especially since I heard a bit about the differences btw Korea and my country
