Batman Beyond Shriek Reaction

If you choose to watch the Fan tastic Four movies, skip the 2015 film aka Fan4stic. It is not worth. The others have their issues here and there, but the 2015 film is borderline unwatchable.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the last episode and this one as well! One of the things I love about this show as you learned from the last episode is that Terry has his own villains instead of them just reusing Bruce's villains. The Terrific Trio and now Shriek. I almost forgot how amazing and unique this episode was. The sound being muted during the fight with Shriek and him only putting on distorted sound to make Terry have to rely on his other senses. And then being blasted with all the sound to the point that he goes deaf is both crazy and sad. I loved what you said about Bruce in the discussion section. That scene with Bruce and Terry at the end about Bruce saying that the voices called him Bruce but that he doesn't call himself that in his own mind, he calls himself Batman. That scene reminds me a lot of the discussion fans have if Bruce or Batman is the mask or who is the real person. It's something that has divided fans on who they believe is the real person. Me personally, I think Bruce and Batman are one in the same similar to how Clark Kent and Superman are one in the same. I just think there different parts of who they are. Like I do think Bruce appreciates the rich lifestyle he has and the privilege it gives him. But he doesn't let it consume him and fully embrace it like the other awful rich socialites he deals with. I also liked what you said about how Bruce relates to us and that's trauma. Specifically what trauma can do to us if we don't ever heal from it. Like even with Bruce being 70 years old in this show, no Alfred and no other Batfamily member except Terry and his dog Ace, he still has not let go of the trauma he suffered all those years ago in the alleyway. Which as you said is reinforced by the fact that the district, Park Row, (which is where Crime Alley is), despite the decrepit state the area is in, Bruce is still not wanting to forget all of that and it's why he even asks Terry if he is wanting to forget what happened to his father. I also like how when Bruce is walking through the old GCPD headquarters, you can see the old wanted Joker poster with Joker still having his New Batman Adventures redesign look as the look you saw him have in the Justice League animated series didn't happen until later. I am so happy you are loving this show and understanding why a lot of fans think this show is iconic and this is only the first season! I definitely recommend watching the rest of season 1 and not skipping any episodes cause the next ones are pretty damn good. Thanks for another DC reaction Meg! Can't wait for the next Beyond episode and also you continuing with Injustice 2. Also I hope you continue with the DC lore videos you've been reacting to lately from Variant Comics. There's definitely some that I want to recommend that aren't from Variant Comics but are still really good. Some of them are really short too so you could probably react to them on stream if you want and post them on here later

One of the best of S1. Revisiting Old Gotham and introducing one of the most unique of the new Rogues. Not for his character but for his power set. He's even better next time. The show does not hold back when it comes to Bruce grappling with all the fear and uncertainty of old age, or how ruthless Powers and Shriek are in taking advantage of that. It's not exactly clear how much a Batman could have helped stop the slow erosion of the law in New Gotham that made men like Derek Powers so prevasive, but it couldn't have hurt. Without him, Powers would likely own Waynetech by now. And that nerve gas weapon would've been sold to Disreputablestan. On a lighter note, it's amusing seeing Terry try to be Batman without assistance. Clearly he has a ways to go before he can try disguises and spying. Can't wait for Dead Man's Hand.

Love how you started the reaction praising the show's soundtrack before the episode with some of the most creative uses of sound. Sound is often overlooked or underappreciated in animation. In a visual medium like comics, sound is very difficult to depict and usually using things like onomatopoeia (POW, BOOM, BLAM etc.). This episode also has a great ending, Batman Beyond does a phenomenal job with karmic punishments for villains. Personally, I would love to see your reactions to all the remaining episodes this season (episodes 8-13) as they are all very good and expand the new Batman's rogues gallery. I understand if you can't get to all of them, but I'm really hoping we get to see at least Dead Man's Hand, Spellbound, and Ascension.

Yeah this was a bizarre episode! You're gonna love the next one though believe me.
