Friday Updates (Patreon)

Happy Friday!

Well, I'm writing this on Thursday... Oh well.

We are rounding the corner on book 2 for tier 3 patrons this week with chapter 48. There are 59 chapters in book 2 and I'm writing book 3 right now. I had a lot of fun noodling around during December, trying to get a good idea for another series. I learned a lot about what I like to write.

I'm not shy about writing combat scenes. I think I'm alright at it, but not the best. My gold standard is R.A. Salvatore, who I think writes fabulous fight scenes. But, I realized that I don't like darker tones. I tried to convince myself that I like them, but I don't. My favorite themes are rebirth, redemption, and change. I don't like killing characters. I like changing them.

So, what does that mean. I have 3 stories in my "back burner" folder that are alright. I realized I've already talked about these stories, but stay with me.

"Class Consultant" missed the mark for me, it went too dark and I'm not a fan.

"Fishing" (doesn't have a name) is a nice little slice of life fishing litrpg. It focuses on sailing and fishing as mechanics of a litrpg world. Focuses a lot on how those things impact the world.

"Healing" (also no name, weird) is a slice of life centered around healing people and social issues.

I've got plans to post both "Fishing" and "Healing" here, then run a poll. Both stories will be posted to 2nd and 3rd tier patrons and then we'll have a vote on which you liked the most. Whichever one wins (I like them both a lot, so I don't care which wins) will be the project I work on in February.

5 days into January and I'm behind on book 3 by a day. With any luck, I can have a massive chunk of it done in January and the first 2 weeks in February, which leaves a bit of time to work on that extra story. Phew. It's a lot of writing.

The "old friend" poll option won, so I've started writing all the plot around that for book 3. It fits perfectly, so I'm glad it won.

Anyway! Enjoy the chapters when the drop tomorrow at 7am eastern, whatever the hell we're in EST or EDT.
