Yeah, so sorry everyone spammed you to not watch the opening credits and I get why you want to experience we had originally... However, the experience we had in real time was finding out Spike was going to be in Angel Season 5 BEFORE the Buffy finale, which kinda ruined his death a little.

Spike? ... Spike. ... Blondie Bear? Is a fantastic gag. I don't think they've ever admitted it, but I think it's clear that Eve's role was going to be fulfilled by Lilah, but there was some reason they couldn't make it work. Eve is fine, but she's clearly store-brand Lilah.

So glad you took our advice and closed your eyes during the intro! Your reaction to Spike was priceless and made me smile! (And then the misdirect of thinking Harmony was the surprise was the icing on the cake) You had the benefit of seeing his appearance unspoiled... it was great to see your honest reaction. Those of us who watched it back in 2003 had it spoiled even before the Buffy finale. To try to boost Angel's ratings, the WB network was heavily promoting Spike's return in TV spots and posters. Even if you managed to avoid all of that, the opening credits also give it away. So excited to see your reactions to the rest of the season. This is probably my favorite season of Angel (even though I think there's a lot to like in every season)!

I think Lilah was brought up from hell the same way Holland was. As just a temporary job to interact with Angel. Thanks for trusting us on the intro. I hoped you enjoyed it more that way. I wish I could have had the non spoiler experience myself.

I had similarly mixed feelings at Spike's return. Was ruining the glory of his final sacrifice worth having him back with us? Back when I watched soap operas they were always ruining satisfying endings, whether tragic or happy, by bringing back the characters years later. My only problem with Angel & co.'s new situation was the Connor problem. How did they rework the memories of the others to eliminate Connor? It was relatively easy to understand the spell that introduced Dawn into the minds of Buffy er al: the same things happened, just with Dawn added in. But how exactly do Wes, Fred, Gunn, and Lorne remember the last 2 seasons? So much of what happened, life-changing actions, centered around Connor. How do they even make sense of it without a memory of Connor?

I mean, just like us they are happier just not remembering the last season, for the most part. Maybe it will be explained later in the season, we dont know yet. In universe its just how magical reality bending spells have worked in the past - it seems real to the people effected by it even if there might be contradictions for an outside observer. Since you mentioned Dawn, how did Miss Kitty Fantastico 🐱 pass away without Dawn's unfortunate crossbow mishap?

If you hadn't noticed the actor who played the vampire Holden Webster in Buffy the Vampire Slayer's episode "Conversations with Dead People" is Jonathan M. Woodward. He also plays Knox, the scientist helping Fred.

The actor who plays Andrew also played one of Harmony’s minions. The crazy vampire in Buffy's “coming of age” ritual was played by the same actor who played Rack (the heroin/magic dealer). The demon kidnapping down and out people in LA was played by the same actor who was Doyles ex's new fiancé. The Judge played by the same actor who played the Master's right hand vampire. Halfrek and Cecily are played by the same actress - this is only pair that could be retroactively made into the same character. There are probably others.

The scene with Angel and Spanky just reminded me of my one little gripe about the final episode of season 2 of Buffy. How did Spike cause Drusilla to pass out with a chokehold?
