"I will not return to normal until I have given birth in roughly 11 months time." "But this isn't mating season! How could you get pregnant without being in heat!?" "Well, as this potion is meant for making a foal.I kind of mixed a "Heat" potion into it. This increases the chance of pregnancy for the mother candidate." "My research is a success! Mother would be so happy and proud when I informed her!" "Did I just... Knocked up a dude?"

Raile21

Well Dawn, what you would receive would be a slap upside the head. And also congratulations you have develop the same reproductive habit as a seahorse.

Drow-chan

Sorry to be a smartass, but a more correct version would be: "I will not return to normal until I have given birth in roughly 11 months." "But this isn't mating season! How could you get pregnant without being in heat!?" "Well, this potion is meant for making a foal. I kind of mixed an "Estrus" potion into it. That increases the chance of pregnancy for the prospective mother." "My research is a success! Mother will be so happy and proud when I inform her!" "Did I just... knock up a dude?"

Robert Prime

ok i get the {"Did I just... knock up a dude?"} but Estrus i don't think so anyway i think stating that sorry to be a smartass is going to far

Drow-chan

Excuse me? I was just saying sorry for correcting him. I wasn't insulting him or anything. And as for the 'Estrus' thing, for one, Alternate Dawn is supposed to be a researcher, so the scientifically 'correct' term makes more sense. Especially as a 'Heat' potion sounds more like something you would use to, well, produce heat. As in, warmth.

Raile21

You literally did not change anything except the word estrus and changing knocked up to knock up. There is reason why the word heat is being used instead of estrus. Less than 1 percent of the populations of the world are scientist, using words that 99 percent can understand would be better. I have checked the word 'knock up' and 'knocked up'. The word 'knock up'is an old victorian era british word around 1660 which means to wake somene up by knocking at the door. The modern word 'knocked up' was started in america's in 1940's during the war, most likely when american soldiers visited prostitution houses in the european and asian theater.

Drow-chan

Are you a native English speaker? Knock up and knocked up are different temporal forms of the same phrase. "Did I just knocked up" makes no sense, because the two parts of the sentence are in different tenses. It's either "Have I just knocked up" or "Did I just knock up".

Raile21

I know many non-native english speaker could write a better english report than a native speaker. English is an international language. Practically every higher education students in countries beside Britain, Australia and America have it as their second language, I don't see the same vice versa. "Have I just knocked up a dude." Sounds awkward, its like Queen Elizabeth hanging out with an American teenager. "Did I just knock up a dude." There would be people questioning the lack of past tense, as knocked up is the exact word in modern english to mean pregnancy. If everybody is using and understanding only one version of a word then it takes precedent over what is written in the rulebook. You should know that dialogs are much more flexible since it is written word for word as what a speaker would have said. Its the difference between speaking normally and reading aloud, what works for one does not work for the other.

Drow-chan

Um... you can ask anyone, "Have I just knocked up a dude" or "Did I just knock up a dude" are the common understanding. "Did I just knocked up a dude" is NOT used at all. Listen, this isn't a competition. You are correct that a non-native speaker may be able to better understand or at least write English than a native speaker. I'm not a native English speaker, either. But you're wrong on this. "Did I just knocked up" is not a sentence anyone would use in English. Neither spoken nor written. I have corrected your tenses on the other sentences in your correction as well, which you chose to ignore. Why is it so hard to accept that I understand English grammar better? This isn't about winning or losing. You get nothing for being right and lose nothing for being wrong. But I'd think you want Vavacung's work to be as good as it can possibly be, since you were correcting him. Do you honestly believe you have an infallible grasp on the English language? Even I don't believe that, and I live and breathe English. I'm not trying to take anything from you. I corrected you, because you made a mistake. Insisting on being right when you are not isn't gonna get us anywhere.

Raile21

We wait for a 3rd party to be a tie-breaker would be the best course of action to take.

Drow-chan

Well, Robert up there already agreed with me on the "knock up" vs. "knocked up" issue. He was contending my choice to use Estrus, which I'm not too hung up about, since that was not an issue of being incorrect in Vavacung's original text, I just thought it sounded better.

Raile21

He did say that, but when I enter 'Did I just knock up' in google search engine it would give me another suggestion which is'Did I just knocked up' which is a point against his.

Drow-chan

Actually, it isn't. Google's results and suggestions are influenced by your search behavior. Since you searched for "Did I just knocked up" before, it would logically show you this. If I do so, it does not. The way this works is... someone IS knocked up. If you say knocked-up, like this, it is an adjective, describing their condition. However, in the context it is used in the story, Ace is saying she DID knock up someone. It's an adverb.

Raile21

Sigh I'll leave it to Vavacung to choose which one to use. I have wasted enough time looking into this for a street-word which I would never use in daily life.

Robert Prime

I have to agree with Raile21 on this. Drow-chan look don't turn Loveless Novas comment pages into a comment war zone please. Now can we act like civilize humans here and just help Loveless with no drama.

Drow-chan

That's what I was trying to do. Help. But instead I get you two arguing that a clearly wrong correction is right. You can't help someone by correcting them when what you're saying is just as wrong, you know.

Nocara

eheheheheh Now she faces the responsibility to tell a princess that she got pregnant her only son XD

Nocara

Hello everyone. I think that is amazing that this friendly debates happen. It is very refreshing. ^^ In this case I have to support Drow-chan version. The sentence is in interrogative, so you don't need to conjugate the verb "knock". So my vote goes for "knock up" . Anycase, I am glad that you both are joining Robert and me. :)

Raile21

Fine I would accept it by majority ruling and my apology for the fuss I have caused to everyone involved.

Nocara

I dont think you need to apologize :) To debate is good
