Oh heck yes! This movie is crazy good, I remember to this day when i was younger me and my mother went to town to meet my step dad to watch it in theatre but unfortunately you had to be 15+ to watch it…I was 14 at the time ahaha

Blaze118

A surprise but a welcome one! I do love the movie, but it definitely pales in comparison to the book.

Eddy Lheat-99

I think this movie is so underrated, the tension and anxiety it gives you a different view on the zombie movie

Ender

Nice! I’m gonna watch this one while dining. Also can you give me a estimate on when you will react to more disaster movies?

They will REACT to your Request, when they get to it.. They have many Requests to get too & If they Bend the Rules & Jump the Line for your Request, Before others (regardless of the Reason..) others may be a Bit Flustered and/or will TRY to Do the Same, just to get their Request Done quicker ... just give it Time, they will get to it. 🎈HAPPY BIRTHDAY🎈 for your Celebrated Day, coming

I recommend Battle of Los Angeles (2011) I think you guys would like that one

I saw this in theaters with my brother and his school mates (all aviation mechanics). We all agreed that Fassbach killing himself was perfection--why would you give someone with no training a gun in a high stress situation? Plus the 'irony' of someone who thinks they're the smartest person in the room get a harsh reality check. We (and some others) literally laughed out loud in the theater when it happened. They all loved the plane crash: thought it was one of the more realistic done by Hollywood.

This is the one which frazzles me the most. Because I wanted to love this and I didn't, and the reason I didn't is because of the book. The book is not just better, it is different in ways too drastic to ignore. The book is basically a series of stories from the survivors of the war. It's a series of interviews, and each tells a tiny sliver of the overall tale. And because of this, the only way to truly do it justice is a mini-series rather than a single movie. It's comparing apples and lightbulbs. To give you some highlights from the book; The Battle of Yonkers. Incoherent military tactics contribute to one of the most staggering defeats in history. The narrator implies the army and the politicians were more interested in putting on a good show for the TV audience to keep up morale than with actually doing damage to the New York Horde. There is a superb scene where a bodyguard at a lavish New York residence watches the downfall of his rich employer and all his freeloading friends who had hoped to hide behind high walls and watch the mayhem ensue; when humans, rather than zombies, attacks the various security guys turn on their masters rather than kill civilians and it all ends in massive amounts of bloodshed. A Russian military unit which questions its orders is subjected to a barbaric punishment right out of Ancient Rome ... traumatising its survivors but inspiring them to fight. A German unit forced into its own appalling decision rages as its leader takes the easy way out. A pilot from Pakistan laments the decisions which lead to a nuclear war ... with fellow Muslim Iran rather than with India as you might otherwise expect. There's the story of the blind Samurai ... the story of Breckenridge Scott, a con-artist who "creates" a fake vaccine ... the tale of Paul Redeker, a South African white supremacist whose plan saves not only his country but the world ... the Israeli policy of building a wall around the whole country (the only part that makes it to the movie) and a bunch of other stuff. Unfilmable as a single screenplay. But a tremendous series of great stories. (One is clearly about Steven Spielberg, who has survived the Great Panic and the aftermath and is drafted by the new government to make morale boosting movies!) One day I hope to get a chance to review the Netflix series :) The movie's not bad. But it's just not the book and that will forever make me ... not like it as much. You know what sort of does make me smile? The opening scene is filmed in George Square ... right here in my home-town of Glasgow :) I didn't actually get down there to see the filming; I will regret that forever as that would have been great!

Luis Mansanarez

Wait where's the reaction video??

Matthias Fendl

I love that you mentioned Moritz Bleibtreu. And yes! I was also very surprised

I had had somebody spring this without warning me it was a horror movie once, I really struggle with horror so much, been through a real lot in my short lifetime, but this one...this made me so happy. The horror and the grief and the hope are such a trio of contrast and the way it showcases how humanity all works together in something like this is, IMO, incredibly aspirational. I feel like if something ever went down this would be a genuinely helpful guidebook ♥ Thanks for metaphorically sitting with me while I watch this, and more tangibly reminding me this exists. As someone who never read the book itself, this is lovely even at times. Horrifying, sad, introspective, but hopeful in *defiance* and *remembrance* of it all too. Take care everybody, that means you reader xoxo

Joey Patterson

One thing I don't understand is that they said airlines were the perfect delivery system, but when infected, it only takes seconds. So how did those infected not turn for hours when on a flight?

Mike

Did you guys like it? I'm not gonna watch this one, but I'm curious

Mike

this bugged me too when I saw it. I remember a lot of this movie not making much sense. It's the only zombie movie I've ever seen that I dislike.

Joey Patterson

I didn't dislike it. It just seems like they mixed zombies and infected together which was made some thing a bit confusing tho

Osiris66

Not my favorite zombie movie, but it was different action packed, so what the hell do you want? Switching to non-zombie movies have you ever seen the movie Repo Man with Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, interesting adaptation huge conglomerates can determine whether or not your life expectancy is shorter or longer.

Lucas

There must have been period of time when the virus was in people's system but was not yet manifesting itself fully in symptoms or full on death etc for it to spread while people were still A ok

I saw this at the cinema when it came out and let's just say it is a hell of a ride. On the big screen with the sound blaring it is incredibly intense. Like you said, in terms of a disaster movies there are a lot of cool stuff in this one. It's well done on a grand scale (the scenes in Israel and the opening outbreak are both insane), but the best parts are the ones taking place in the closed spaces. Examples would be the plane outbreak and the WHO-facility at the end. The smaller spaces adds that claustrophobic element to it and just ups the intensity even more. The script pretty much links up and there aren't really any big plot holes. I agree that the character building for Pitt's character is very good. We can clearly see he is very competent (but still not outlandishly good) and the family is genuine enough that we can believe his motivations. We don't really get to know much about any other characters, but there isn't really any need for it either, so it works. I also like that it doesn't resolve, even though we didn't get a sequel. It makes the world building more genuine knowing that the world will go on and we do not get to know how it does that. The acting is fine overall, Pitt and his family are good. Segen is a nice addition towards the second half but other than that most characters are merely there for context or plot progression, so I don't really feel they requiered that much acting. The rest of the cast did well enough though. Overall a good time. Thanks for the reaction, looking forward to the next one!

Austin Hoggard

Are you guys going to check out Greenland?

Ultrx

Loved this movie when it came out in theaters! You guys should watch Greenland with Gerard Butler. Another great disaster movie that I think you two would enjoy!
