TheMediaKnights

So glad you enjoyed this pick! Gotta love classic monster flicks but I also really enjoyed the modern twist 😁

Dale Smith

Is this extended or theatrical?

Sara Kon-El

You two out here really making me relive high school, huh? LOL One thing I really liked about this movie is that the Lycans can control their transformations, becoming a wolf at will. Of course there's the obligatory full moon as well. But the one thing that stuck in my craw, to this day... vampires having reflections. Them not being allergic to silver I can deal with, your greatest weapon also being a weakness, okay. It just bothers me. I'm gonna sit in the corner and make pouty bat face now.

TheMediaKnights

Haha pouty bat face 😂❤️ Honestly really enjoyed how they modernized the lore. Makes it exciting because even though it’s familiar I still don’t quite know what to expect 😁

Ren Lichtfoot

I love Underworld!! Also yes, that shot of Selene aura-farming at the start of the movie is excellent lol

Redamber79

Gurl, same! I absolutely adore these movies. This is my first watch-along since subscribing, and I'm strapped in, ready to go! 💕🤘 Also, Michael Sheen is an absolute boss. He stole every scene he was in effortlessly.

Maja Misak

I cant find version online that first this sync. every version I watch has extra little scenes here and there and t his version keeps getting out of sync and skipping stuff I have to readjust every 5min trying to catch where you are it's weird :(

Sara Kon-El

Kraven outed himself in his moment of rage to Selene, when he said "Lucian wouldn't be interested in a human!" in the present tense, instead of the past tense. But she didn't pick up on it.

Maja Misak

already said it on yt but I adore Underworld movies so much. peek sexy gothic grungy 2000s aesthetic and Selene is one of my fave movie vampires. The whole vibe and cinematography of these movies was amazing. Shoutout to Michael Sheen he was insanely hot and charismatic as Lucien. I can till recite the intro to the movie worrd for word even tho I haven't seen it in years, that should tell you how many times I've seen it back than hehe

Redamber79

I think my fave thing about Lucien is how he flows seamlessly between merciless violence, and utter gentility. He's a warrior and a gentleman, though he'd likely argue that latter title. As he said, he was born into servitude.

Hans Engelen

Insane movie set.... I approve. Ffs Kate Beckinsale ... nuff said.

Jackosaurus

Top 5 movies should react too. 1. The Love Bug 1968 Franchise. 2. Walking with Dinosaurs 2013. 3. Looney Tunes Back in Action 2003. 4. Monster Trucks 2016. 5. Goosebumps 1&2. Please

COREY Ervin Scott-Johnson

I don’t know if you know this, but the second in command Lycan, the black man with the deep voice, is actually the creator of this IP. Image a cross over with Seline and Blade. Man no one who stand a chance. Especially with comic book blade and his op powers.

Thurein Minhtet

God!!! Why is Kate Beckinsale so hot???

Carolina Ramirez

I’d really love to see you guys react to Barbie (2023) and Encanto! Both movies have such meaningful stories and beautiful messages I think you’d really connect with them:)

Jackosaurus 👋 a GOOD Suggestion Collection • just Keep in Mind, Ari & Denise's Request List is Extensive so it will Be awhile before they get to your Suggestions., Be Patient. Regards, 🌻

Ren Lichtfoot

She did, I think, she just didn't let it show on her face. Right after that was the scene where she was shooting in the range. Then she asks Kahn about Kraven's supposed slaying of Lucien. She basically says she doesn't believe it because no one can verify it except on Kraven's word. Later on, after the hallway encounter, that's when she goes to look at the forbidden history and sees Lucien's likeness torn out of the book. And she also notices the necklace he was wearing.

John Ostlund

Crazy I just rewatched all these and was thinking it was a pipe dream to have them covered on the channel since this one came out when I was in high school. So excited to hear your takes! Hi from WA state!

John Smith

21:31 hold up wait a minute... something aint right... You have not seen Prison Break D: This is unacceptable we need to change this immediatley :D :D

Maxence Louison

There is nothing funnier then Denise side eyes to the camera when Ari's suspiscions starts to rise 🤣🤣

Ah, Underworld. Unexpectedly good film. Considering it was not a high budget movie, I think it still stands the test of time quite well. I did notice you guys seemed to be watching what I can only assume is the theatrical cut, because I had a lot of scenes that you guys didn't have in my version. Which didn't affect the big story, but definitely deepens some of the relationships in the film. Completely agree about the load of information being thrown at you as the viewer, it is one of the flaws of the film. Also, some of the acting is maybe not as good as you would hope. Our main cast delivers however! Beckinsale is gorgeous, lethal and pretends to be cold while actually being quite emotional, exactly what the character requires. Michael Sheen as Lucien is charismatic and as ambigious as one would hope for. Bill Nighy is over the top, but the character of Victor is completely over the top so his choices are valid. The effects are good considering the time it was made and the budget. The fact that they went for mostly practical is so damn smart, because it makes it look 10 times better than CGI from the early 2000s would have done. I applaud Wiseman for that choice. Very much enjoyed this, looking forward to catching more of the series with you guys! Some other cool monster-related movies worth checking out: The Hunger (1983) Ginger Snaps (2000) Dog Soldiers (2002) Blade (1998) The Brothers Grimm (2005) Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) The Faculty (1998) Planet Terror (2007) Hellboy (2004) El laberinto del fauno (2006)

The extended version actually fixes the complaint you had. There are more scenes between Selene and Michael. Not too many but enough to show them building a connection. I actually started the extended version before I realized you guys are watching the theatrical version.

Nowhere Man

I don't think I ever watched any of these movies when they first came out, but I did binge them all, one after another, a few years ago. I would never include this franchise with the greatest movie serials of the past half century, but I have to admit: the Underworld movies do have a special quality that makes them both unique and worth rewatching. Kate is totally convincing in this role and pure eye candy, the gothic styling is darkly delicious and relatively rare in movies and shows, even in the 2020s, and every single movie is more amazing than the last one. So many horror-themed franchises over the years got worse as they aged, but this one outdoes itself every time. Huh. I wonder if the action in this movie was inspired by the Matrix. Hmmm. What’s interesting about Kate’s performance is that she isn’t just reacting to her immediate surroundings; she’s always thinking about something else, and it takes most of the movie to explain what she’s thinking about. I’m always amused by how vampires are depicted as being upper class, and werewolves are depicted as being lower class. Gotta love guns from this movie era that have nearly unlimited rounds, and somehow don’t cause deafness when repeatedly fired at close range. It’s hard to decide whether the cinematography or the soundtrack are better. They’re both epic. The casting choice for Victor is interesting. With some movies having so many British cast members, I don’t understand why they don’t just set the movie in Britain and be done with it.
