All excellent choices :) Be careful with the version of Blade Runner you choose, they are all VERY different and some of them even alter the meaning of the whole movie (in my view anyway ...) It's a stunning film, but the Final Cut is probably my favourite version. (I once watched all of them in one day just to make sure!) The same debate will apply when you review - as you must - Apocalypse Now. I love the Redux version the most, but it's more slowly paced than other versions, and has a tonaly different feel from the original cut. Still, I do think it's the masterwork version. (Others will bitterly disagree haha!) Ridley Scott's movies often benefit from watching multiple versions; Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner ... Kingdom Of Heaven is the MOST distinct "directors cut" of them all because the original cut took so much out of the original story. The directors cut of THAT is a masterpiece and well worth your time.

dieselbeast As per mate, some great suggestions from you. If you guys are on a Pacino kick you simply MUST do Scarface ... but Carlitto's Way, my God that movie is a beautiful piece of work, a really under-rated gem of a film and Pacino is wonderful in it. But the whole movie is almost stolen from under him by two great performances - one from John Leguizamo and the other, and in a stunning turn, from Sean Penn. You guys will love it.

If you haven’t seen Dances With Wolves, it’s a must see. Kevin Costner’s masterpiece which won 7 Academy Awards, including best picture and best director. Awakenings (1990), starring Robin Williams and Robert De Niro, a forgotten gem based on a true story L.A. Confidential (1997), starring Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce

Some suggestions: I doubt many of them will make the poll or would win if they did, but I love all of them dearly and I am certain that yourselves and the rest of the community would too: Kingdom Of Heaven, Directors Cut version only Carlitos Way. The French Connection - in terms of pure film-making it's astounding Apocalpyse Now Redux Platoon - staggering movie, best war film ever made JFK Near Dark - I cannot praise it highly enough. PLEASE do it. Frailty - I assure every member of the community who has never heard of it, seek it out, watch it, you will love it. The Hitcher - Rutger Hauer version OBVIOUSLY :) The Room - haha just kidding! Watch, instead the movie on the making of The Room, which is called The Disaster Artist The Abyss - directors cut again, it's Cameron's under-rated classic The Long Good Friday - the BEST British gangster movie ever ... with competition only from two others ... Get Carter - the original starring Michael Caine and ... Sexy Beast - say no more. A lot of your community will be familiar with it. All great films, all worth a watch.

Earl Grey

Galaxy Quest (1999) and Starship Troopers (1997) by Paul Verhoeven are a hoot and a half. Both are guaranteed fun.

A Perfect World, Drive, A Few Good Men, Frailty, Dances With Wolves and Awakenings were all great films. I would also like to recommend Road to Perdition and Into the Wild. They are both exceptionally beautiful.

Jenna

The Avatar movies, or just Way of Water, if you haven’t seen either of those yet! I think you posted the trailer reaction but I just wasn’t sure if you watched that in theaters. Also Arrival (2016), and any of the Jordan Peele movies! Get Out (2017), Us (2019), and Nope (2022)! Thanks y’all! 🖤

Kristin D

I second Arrival, beautiful and brilliant. (added to my list)

Def watch The Final Cut of Blade Runner! There are a few versions out there. If you’re continuing your 90’s movie kick… I’d recommend: The Fifth Element (Bruce Willis zany sci-fi actioner) LA Confidential (Star-studded noir film) Point Break (Keanu Reeves + Patrick Swayze + bank robbers + surfing haha) Leon: The Professional (hitman noir in the Mando/Lone Wolf and Cub vein) The Rock (Nic Cage + Sean Connery + Michael Bayhem) There is a 4K re-release of James Cameron’s The Abyss coming out next week… so that would be a good one. I’m a cinematography and screenwriting nerd… so some of my favorite films I’d love to see you guys react to … There Will Be Blood Heat Whiplash The Prestige Children of Men Black Swan Hell or High Water In Bruges Snatch Do the Right Thing Nightcrawler SE7EN Arrival Being John Malkovich The Talented Mr. Ripley When Harry Met Sally… Fargo Memento Almost Famous Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang Drive Ex Machina Amadeus The Royal Tenembaums Dark City I have a million more but these came to mind.

I think you guys would enjoy Arrival (2016) and Children of Men (2006)

mike szedon

I like how you used the words "enjoy" and "Children of Men" in the same sentence.

TheMediaKnights

Yup! We've definitely seen interstellar and absolutely love it. It's one of our favorite movies 😄

JM63

My recommendation is Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (1975) since you guys clearly love cinematography and have professional backgrounds in that field. It's considered to be one of the most beautiful looking films of all time, and it's ranked 45th on the Sight & Sound 2022 Critics Poll (12th on the Directors Poll). Even though 2001 is more influential, Barry Lyndon is easily my favorite and most rewatchable Kubrick film.

JM63

I also recommend Casablanca since it's considered to be the best product of the Golden Age studio system. It's also entertaining as hell, and it's one of the few all-time great films to be directed by a reliable pro (Michael Curtiz) rather than an auteur.

Is there going to be a way for us to suggest films to you? Or do you prefer select them and then we vote? Also, can I patreon a film reaction? Like how much do I have to pay for you guys to actually watch a masterpiece of a film.... I think I went thorough your whole feed and there are maybe 3 or 4 masterpieces... the rest are just meh.... you guys seem smarter than most youtuber reaction people... so I've really been enjoying watching synced films with you guys, listening to your awesome insights.... but damn, you guys are green when it comes to films you should already have seen... I mean... you guys are young... but not that young... is it real that you JUST watched pulp fiction for the first time? I mean... c'mon... that's like film school 101... I don't get it ... but I do hope you start reacting to great films as you have been in your last few posts... here's some auggestions... "Mulholland Drive" "Blue Velvet" "Memento" "2001: a space odyssey" "A clockwork orange" "Harakiri" by kobayashi "Seven samurai" kurosawa

Yup! Basically the lore here is that for the longest time I didn't enjoy watching films that came before my time. I was too busy watching other types of movies that were more age appropriate and when I started getting into movies I got into it due to the technical aspect not really the narrative. We did not go to film school so we wouldn't know. All of the things we've learned from cinematography we learned from watching films and then immediately researching how things were achieved. We both went to school for theater/writing. As soon as we finished we started our journey to watch all of the big films (and not so big) films we had missed in order to continue to learn and utilize what we learn from viewing these for our own future projects. So in a nutshell we had different interests we were into filmmaking not movie watching. Believe it or not they are quite different. Like eating and being a chef. But in order to improve we must look back at what came before. Also with the amount of films there are out there trust me when I say there is no specific film that is watched by everybody in the industry. Everyone's got their own style and will watch whatever they enjoy that'll continue to nurture that style. Thank you for your suggestions! Adding them to our list!

Sutil

Cool... and I agree about there are tons of films that not everyone have seen... but in my experience as a film lover, movie goer or whatever is that certain classics are a must watch... they are just too influential on the artform and it truly surprises me you hadn't watched... but that is why this channel is interesting... watching you guys react to films for the first time is a great pleasure... and yes, I also understand the different levels of appreciating film... nothing wrong with any of that... just surprised to see two intelligent people discussing film in a very insightful way but not really being experts on cinema... so it's pretty cool... I'm not complaining or judging... just pleasantly surprised... hope you guys react to "Mulholland Drive"
