I can see where Carter is coming from in a way, but ultimately I think this arc was an overall draw. A ton of Heroes died. Sure, Shigaraki didn't get up to full power, that's true, and a LOT of the villains died or were captured, especially some of the bigger ones. We got Lemillion (the goat) back along with Best Jeanist. But almost everyone who participated in that battle was severely injured. While they're recovering, All for One says he's not gonna give them a chance to rest, and for the nomus to come get him out of prison. Excited for you guys to see the rest of this season and season 7. October is approaching!

I can see both sides but honestly there wasn't a lot they could without some losses. They had the element of surprise and it still went pretty bad. But I think now they see what shigaraki is capable of, they can come up with a better plan.

gonna side with team loss for this one, it definitely could have been much worse like carter said but the goal was to march in and capture shigaraki + the league + the paranormal front, and we failed 2/3 of that objective

not to mention it was a complete surprise attack thanks to Hawks undercover work, but despite that, we lost the upper hand so quickly the second shigaraki woke up 😭... all that surprise prep and raid vibe turned into "objective: survive"

Now here it comes the next arc which for me is even better than this one, not for the action itself but for the development of the history

The scene where Uraraka overhears another hero saying they're giving up cause the situation is hopeless really encapsulates how we as the audience feel seeing ep 14. While there were many captures of important figures to the villains' side, there's no denying that letting Shigaraki go back into hiding was an outcome that no one can be happy about. The fear it causes is far greater than the relief the heroes might feel about capturing Gigantomachi and some other Liberation Front members. Because you see the aftermath of the war: the deaths of more than a few prominent heroes, Shigaraki escaping, superhuman society distrusting heroes because of Dabi's broadcast, etc. and you just feel there are far too many things that have been lost compared to the number of wins we got. Every time reinforcements came, they were either overpowered by All For One/Shigaraki or bamboozled by the actions of a League of Villains member. Truthfully, the "it could have been worse" mindset is just a coping mechanism at this point, because it doesn't erase how bad the damage is right now. For heroes, a win would have been to capture everyone involved in this uprising of villains WITHOUT unnecessary destruction to cities across the country and allowing the main villain escape. But they couldn't do even that. Shigaraki's escape alone already negates the win of launching a surprise attack on the Paranormal Liberation Front, because he's STILL going to end up having the time to recuperate and wait for his body to catch up to the modifications that have been done to him. If the heroes don't find and catch him before that, it will essentially be like the surprise attack never happened, because instead of being at ~75% for a subsequent fight, he'll be at 100% the next time they clash, which is no different from what the worst odds would have been going into the first war.

The heroes objectives were to dismantle the PLF (success), dismantle the League of Villains (success), capture Gigantomachia (success), capture the Dr. (success), capture the PLF members (success), capture the League of Villains members (mixed success/failure), capture Shigaraki (failure), permanently stop All for One's plans (failure). So the operation was mostly a success and dealt a crippling blow to All for One, but they ultimately failed to stop him permanently. This outcome came at the cost of permanent injuries to Endeavor, Mirko, Hawks, Eraserhead, and Deku, severe injuries to Bakugo and Best Jeanist, the deaths of Midnight, Majestic, and Crust plus many more, the destruction of multiple large cities, the revelation of Endeavor's family secrets, and the demoralization of hero society which caused some heroes to quit. When you tally everything up, I think the heroes ultimately came up positive, mostly for the fact that they were able to stop Shigaraki from becoming fully realized at this point and understand the stakes for their next encounter with him. Because so many villains were taken off the board, there is a much clearer path to victory for the heroes against All for One. Ultimately, the villains lost most of their fodder and supporting roster and the heavy hitters escaped. The heroes, on the other hand, had most of their heavy hitters severely weakened. In conclusion, I think Carter is right, its a dub for the heroes. But the dub was extremely costly.

I gotta agree with Jack, this was not a dub for the heroes. They did do damage to the villains, but Shigaraki still got away and the villains escaped leaving multiple cities damaged and lots of people lost their lives. Now what will become of all of those damaged cities?? You can't really call this a 100% win. The civilians especially will not be thinking that since they don't know what's happening behind closed doors. At least the heroes captured some villains and stop things from being even more worse, but the cost of it is too much

As far as “disaster arcs” go, I thought this was good, not my favorite though. But this was definitely a situation that could’ve been a lot worse without hawks giving us the the doomsday countdown and killing twice.

Yah nah there’s no way this a dub lol they failed to capture the league plus shigaraki and seven nomus , while losing Midnight, Majestic and number 6 Crust and major injuries to number 1,2,3,5,7,10 Aizawa, Gran Torino, Deku and Bakugo and im probably still forgetting some ppl. We also had Dabi completely ruin everyone’s trust in hero society all while Gigantomachia ran through like 20 cities killing god knows how many people. This wasn’t just a single battle this was a national disaster on a HUGE SCALE. Not to mention the city that’s no longer there because shigaraki obliterated it.

Midnights death is sad. It is hard to see this as a win. They did capture some of the Villains, but there is still a big war ahead and a lot of people are now feeling betrayed by Endeavor and the heros in general. I'm curious to see what happens next.

You guys should check out Ange’s (Carlie and Ange) reaction to Midnight’s death (avoiding future reactions ofc) he loved that woman down 😭💀 Also this might be a hot take and i understand everyone has their breaking point, but to be a real hero you need to be able to deal with crises such as this. Obviously, society has been somewhat peaceful up until this point and this a worst case scenario come to life. But this is what Stain was talking about when he says people are heroes for show. You have 16 year old kids like Ochaco and even Koda lol putting that work in to rescue as many people as possible and yet when things get really tough you have grown adults quitting. Trust me, i wouldn’t want to be in this situation and i feel bad but don’t glorify a job thinking it’s easy and when it’s finally time to be a true hero bail out idk

I personally do not see it as a win, I see it as a huge L. Simply put if AFO is happy, we should be sad, coz not only did he manage to take out a few heroes and level a few cities and walk away freely, mainly he managed to get a body to control, and now he literally has 2 bodies. Which arguably 1 AFO was issues enough . Also imagine your city got leveled and part of the people who killed your family and took down your house were - the son of the no 1 hero. Dabi´s hit to the heroes is underreportedly horrible, coz we all know how cancel culture works...imagine if this happened in our world, the government would be in flames. The trust in power would be fully diminished and people d take justice into their own hands. While AFO having 2 bodies is scary, to me Dabi´s impact was always bigger, coz if you think about it since season 1 (when villainsattacked UA) the trust in heroes was being undermined now to reach its peak. It has been 6 seasons of slowly undermining the trust of society in heroes just for Dabi to make the final splash.

It shows that some of them were getting too comfortable with the peaceful times when all might was around and now things are getting really bad and they don't know what to do. I love all might but some people were getting too reliant on him being around to truly put the work in to be a hero. Not his fault just one of the cons of the hero society when he was number one. Now we see that one dude at the end saying he's going to give up while we see class 1A putting in work to save people.

I'd say this was a pretty big L for the heroes. The biggest loss for the villains is Machia and Twice but in return they killed a bunch of heroes, destroyed a city and completely shaken if not destroyed the public's trust in heroes while also demotivating those same heroes.

That montage showing all the damage the heroes took is such a good scene, the song is beautiful and the scene as a whole really hammers home just how much was sacrificed like they definitely dealt a huge blow to the Paranormal Liberation Front but they took an enormous amount of damage in the process. With the whole "was it a W" argument the way I see it is the heroes didn't take a W but they definitely dealt out an L to the villains and the same vice versa, both sides suffered massive losses.
