Being caught up with the anime, I never realized the heaviness of reyleighs words that they weren't ready or the world isn't ready. When I watched this ep I was mad and thought "they just wanna drag it out" but genuinely no one was ready. This is why I've come to the conclusion that lore is revealed in one piece WHEN it makes most sense for the story, nothing is ever about dragging shit out but more so when the plot NEEDS that story. PEAK STORYTELLING!!!

Btw the the lord of the coast is not actually a sea king - the one that ate shanks arm, Its the coast sea monster. Sea Kings are in the calm belts usually and are far bigger in size. I love how luffy’s ambition is not based on wanting power or being above others, he wants freedom to do as he pleases and wishes the exact same thing for others, specially his loved ones ep 400 is one of the absolute best eps out there, in terms of content and direction imo, the music is immaculate too. the way rayleigh speaks about roger gets me teary eyed every single time, and i think this is the most hyped I’ve seen cannon in a op reaction, im loving the energy so much!! so excited for next week and more peak😭

Just a note about some things we've seen Shanks do. We have seen Shanks' haki take out half of Whitebeards crew. They had to tell the weak guys to get away because Shanks' haki was too strong and people were just fainting left and right. Also, we saw him casually swordfight with Mihawk. Obviously, we also know he is one of the 4 emperors.

Also I agree with Cannon about the Shanks…As great as Oda is at planting seeds, I think he just didn’t have the power balance of the world totally worked out then. Because if you were only given information from someone else, is that the real truth? Or is it their version of the truth? Which we have seen to be an integral part of One Piece. I believe what Rayleigh is truly saying is this: without the context and true understanding of the truth, would knowing the history or even knowing what the One Piece is mean anything to you? Because without the journey of learning about the world, meeting new people with different backgrounds and perspectives, creating bonds with them, encountering and overcoming your own struggles and growing from them, the truth is meaningless because it would only be a collection of facts to you. And as he says, "there's nothing you could do about it." But through the journey, you will truly understand and be able to contextualize the truth in a way that will cause you to act and bring about true change. This is why I really respect Rayleigh for not even giving her a single piece of information that could possibly influence her own answer, and instead giving her optimism in hopes that she will give it another meaning/answer and draw the "correct" conclusion from her own journey with her friends.

Rayliegh’s story wasn’t the same one everyone knows. Nami was saying that the end of the Roger pirates is like a whole different story, not because she was hearing it from Rayleigh, but because Rayliegh’s account of it it is completely different from what the history books and World Government claimed it to be.

The talk with Rayleigh is one of my favorite scenes in the show. You can really feel the weight of it. This arc is so goated. I'm a One Piece advocate but you guys should consider watching One Pace after this arc. It's still good without it but the pacing is really going to drag in some episodes. The way Luffy says the line “I’m not going to rule anything” perfectly shows what kind of person he is. He’s a bright bubble of joy, untainted by any hunger for power, who liberates everyone he meets from their hardships and fights the corrupt system head on, truly a freedom fighter. Episode 400 still remains in my top One Piece episodes the amount of build-up, foreshadowing, intricate story crafting, and character growth all lead up to moments that make this arc one of the best in the entire anime for me. Looking back at where it all started and seeing how grand the scale of the story has become is nothing short of incredible. I can’t wait for you all to watch more.

Saw many commenting on it so want to clarify cause I’m a MEGA fan of Shanks ⭐️ Oda said in an interview or sbs forgot, the editors advised shanks lose an arm for shock factor because it was the first chapter of the series. Oda took on the suggestion but made sure to give it a reason in the story. This reason was hinted first when whitebeard asked what enemy he lost his arm to, to which shanks replied with “I bet it on a new era” - so it was his choice, he had no struggle against the lord of the coast (not sea king). To us upto date manga readers, that reason has been recently revealed in the latest chapters, see spoilers below if u want to see the reason. SPOILER BELOW Spoiler: On his left arm, shanks has the same tattoo as all the holy knights/ God Knights.

The sea beast v shank haki take is valid, but I would argue that the level of effort required to use physical concentrated attacks like sanjis kicks vs looking at em funny is impressive in itself and worth considering when power scaling. Can a lot of characters in the show take down a sea beast? Sure. Can a lot of em make a sea beast run without even having to fight? Finish the show and find out

I've read the whole one piece manga but watching the anime is difficult for me because of my attention span and it's pacing, so I started using this reaction series to get myself to watch it.
