Honesty this couple of chapters are ... not intresting? What happened to space class, meeting his formal tutors, like the point of going to this academy was to get some feat and solidify his gaps in education, but is it really nessesery? Before he was contuining his dad's research, found a sealed mini world, got trapped in there with a space god and ferral beasts/monsters, managed to get out and even has a whole new identity - he could start fresh, be anyone. What I am trying to say is that he had an intresting adventure(reckless, yes, but this is a book, not real life). Now we have mundane problems like being overworked in classes, no time for his friends, this akward love thing with val and isabella ugh - it feels stale, nothing is going on. Yes there is the cultists arc hinted, but his butler told him that he needs to get to green? So not soonin any case

Kai came off as a really bad person in this whole affair tbh

what, because some girl preyed on a misunderstanding to maneuver him into a datw he didn't want?

I agree with (so not interesting). Feels like reading romance novel.

I hate how people act like big mental age = grooming, bad person and low mental age = clueless, good boi Kai. And then all the comments arguing on whether Kai has high or low mental age and treat it as a moral judgement of the character and the author. I don't believe that high mental age necessarily means grooming. Laws are set up the way they are to remove any chance of it and not waste time on nuances of every relationship. I do not believe that high mental age necessarily implies grooming. Grooming happens because there is a clear split in a relationship between who is the authority and who isn't (often times caused by an age gap) and the person with more power in the relationship exploits the other person causing them to do things that are harmful, invasive or violating to the person with less power in the relationship. It is an intentional act of exploiting one's influence over the other person. I would argue that this happens in relationships with same age assholes, narcissists and psychpaths too. The mental age gap should not he treated as a basis for moral judgement. Kai should be judged by whether he approaches the relationship with good intention and strives for an equal relationship. As long as both parties feel like they are respected and have an equal say in the relationship I do not see how an age gap (mental or physiological) should dictate anything.

Now just gonna hope Kai will at least come proper clean to Val rather than waffle around.

So, with only Kai's perspective, we learned Isodora might have been plotting this for a while, Lys is proactive in protecting Val's potential relationship with Mat, maybe the same with Flynn although he is food motivated so it might just be a bonus, and then that Kai still has issues seeing people his physical age as being his age. It's kinda hard to really pin down Isadora's motivation, given we've only seen her be friendly to Mat, I don't know if she's genuinely into Mat or just after the top ranker. A follow up chapter of some sort from the girls' perspectives being asked how their night went might be interesting.

Ooh the urge to argue with people who think it's totally cool for Kai to date Val rn is so strong. It's not good for my mental health to be schizo typing to like 5 random people that I'll never interact with again but man the urge is so strong to keep doing it

It’s bemusing how everyone seems to be taking for granted that Kai has done something wrong. He’s not dating Val. He doesn’t want to date Val. How is he responsible for managing her emotions? If he did want to date someone, would he need to run that by her first? It’s moot because it’s not a date, and he said it wasn’t a date, and she still ran off in a huff. Could Kai have talked with Val earlier and explained he wasn’t looking for anything right now? Yes. Should he have? Probably. But until two chapters ago, we were being led to believe he was completely oblivious. If I had to blame someone, I would pick Flynn, as much as I love him, because he’s spent months teasing Kai and never once tried to help him navigate this social blind-spot; that’s not how a brother should act. I am glad to have the romance subplot put down. It’s dissonant to have Kai thinking romancing his peers is icky and then having everyone around him pushing him into it. Given the way everyone acted these last two chapters, Kai is completely vindicated in his opinion that he needs to wait for Val to grow up before he starts anything, even if he has a lot of maturing to do himself.

Yesssss bro they just need let Val grow up. In my perfect world Kai tells her what's up, she gets over this infatuation she's held for Kai, gets in a real relationship with someone her age, then maybe if that doesn't work out the Kai and Val romance could be a thing.

And to clarify my thoughts, I think any Isekai story where the MC dates a minor or starts dating someone the millisecond they turn legal age is loser incel chud bait and anyone that enjoys or defends that is a loser pedo incel chud. Argue with a brick wall

So what if valela is also from earth? No reason there can be like more than just kai. That would be a fun twist.

Idk Isadora didn't seem too bad as a character and i feel like they treated her like shit just cause she asked Kai out, maybe she doesn't even know about Kai and Val (and even then they're not even together). Soooo they basically bullied her the whole evening cause she asked Kai out
