We finally get to learn what’s the big deal about Blackwoods? Hurrah!

K

If he brings up Rain, I wonder if Reishi will have an even more overt reaction…

We already know don't we? They're one of the 7 Great Houses of the Republic.

I feel like you spend too much time on the valela and Kai thing for the payoff to be an off screen conversation I don't know if more is coming and what but if they are to just remain friends the whole story feels too drawn out for me Skipping that scene with Kai being so awkward and oblivious feels wrong because it is a huge moment for Kai to talk honestly with her about their relationship

"Rob and Alden Blackwood" is Rob also a blackwood? If not it's weird that he does not mention his lasat name.

SAB

So all that build up and tension for it to be "resolved" off-screen? smh

Quick typo - He hurriedly set down the cap and leaned toward the mirror. cap => cup

Surely Kai will not be fine with Valela marrying some bozo. Also i don't ge why so many readers are against romance, is he supposed to just chase numbers his whole life? The story would be hella boring, also not realistic, he's a pretty normal kid not some anti-social asexual ascetic. And yes he's a kid, his brain never developed past 17. You're acting as if time is all that is needed to mature, it's definitely not.

Immortal

It’s definitely not over. I feel like there will be an actual conversation soon

In this aspect the problem isn't with his age or how long he has been alive. It has to do with the people around him moreso. He has had the chance to mature, and the time to process a long line of mistakes and then try again. Valela, being the only individual he is currently interested in, has not. This is while ignoring his first life. Beyond the fact that she is not emotionally ready, he also isn't ready either. He wants to explore and discover, while making a lot of money to care for his family. He also isn't ready to reclaim his real name. If he does not feel safe enough to use his birth name how could he be comfortable bringing a family into the world when all it takes is one wrong turn for someone to try to kill him for still being alive. Beyond that is the fact that the last time he managed to make a normal set of long term friends was before his father died. Ultimately he's using the excuse of his mental age to away his discomfort, when ultimately he is uncomfortable due to not knowing how to have a nor give others a normal realtionship. And since the answer for how to change that is the same as his excuse it will work until either he is ready, or until he has relaxed enough to come to the same realization. Until then this is perfectly okay. Also he still innately thinks that people will live to only around 100 hundred years naturally. He hasn't yet recognized the he is dealing with people who are going to live for thousands of years.

That isn't the resolution. It even says as much in the chapter when he mentions to Reishi he has some things to clear up with Valela. They maybe had an awkward brief conversation about it, but it definitely isn't resolved in a meaningful way.

lol the Blackwood wouldn’t be close to his biggest surprise if he told him about Rein
