I think this actually goes really well for Ro-den, after some initial shenanigans. What he's trying to hide is that he was egregiously, illegally, perhaps life-savingly (by helping keep his bound authority not in more yucky spell impressions) helpful to Alden in learning about his affixation. Stuart and Alden obviously both sympathize with sharing more information to avowed so they can be informed about their affixations. Even the considerable research efforts of Stu have not compared to what Ro-den did by teaching him he already has an amazing, infinite skill. Ro swearing Alden to secrecy about it makes complete sense, so once he brings Stu into the secret explicitly, I think it will be fine.

I am so excited for Ro-den to become Alden's magic teacher. It's such a perfect and cruel and conflict encouraging arrangement

Still mildly obsessed with the significance of that still-living leaf Alden's been using as a bookmark since his last affixation. Does the tree that donated it to him still have an active authority connection to it? Is Alden sending it updates on his continued life and well-being every time he pulls that leaf in a book out of storage and practices casting the memory of light upon it and sprinkling it with water?
