NRaO Chapter 32 (Patreon)

With that distraction out of the way (everything from adopting Hiama and Ami to picking wives took three days)… I got back to training my students. Most were strong enough to pass the chunin exams already but they needed one or two trump cards and a specialty to fall back on. Instead of choosing for them, it took them to have their possible teachers pick them.
First was a visit to the best seal master who only taught someone if she liked them first. Mito Uzumaki. I walked in like I owned the place mainly just to annoy her as I called out. “Mito are you ready to be my woman?” She tossed a shuriken at me that I easily caught before she smirked. “How many proposals does that make Orochi? Ever since you’ve been a child you come here to ask me to teach you or be your woman.”
I just smiled at her. “Gave up on having you teach me. Pick out one of my students instead… I’m still going to get you in my bedroom one of these days.” Ami began to make fake throwing-up noises. “She’s like a hundred years old!” I could only chuckle at her naivete. “The older the berry the sweeter the juice. Anyways, pick one out to teach. You aren’t getting any younger granny and you know Tsunade isn’t going to pass on your legacy.”
She looked everyone over and noted a few. “Nawaki… No, he can’t pay attention. The Uchiha boy is out. Most of our income is from making sure Uchiha vaults are safe with our seals. Can’t be losing our biggest customer teaching a student. That leaves you three.” She pointed three fingers at each not even bothering to look in their direction as she waited for each to make their case.
Since no one spoke she grabbed Gin by his shirt and dragged him in front of her eyes. “You look like an Uzumaki but I don’t sense any seal defenses on you boy. Which branch are you from?” Gin just anxiously spoke. “Ahh no idea granny, my mom said we were kicked out because she was dating someone my grandpa didn’t like.”
She only nodded in agreement before tossing him to the side. “Pass. You’re grandpa’s name is Gintama, just to let you know he died. He got drunk and fell into the water and was sucked into a whirlpool. They didn’t find his body for two weeks after. His branch focused on the warrior's path. You have the chains unlocked yet?”
She placed her hand on his chest and two tiny rope-like chains shot out of his back. “Nope, absolutely pathetic chains. You said it was your mother? Come here, boy.” She bit down on him and I could see the wear and tear of old again and the lack of sleep fade from Mito. “Ahh, that hit the spot. You got healing blood go away I can’t teach you anything.”
She tossed him with now increased strength. I caught him before he slammed into the wall. As much as she looked mad she just helped him tremendously. How long would it take for him to figure out his blood could heal on his own? Maybe never. Imagine having an ally die because you didn’t know that… Fucking damn it, that three separate branches of the Uzumaki I need to eat or absorb into my clan.
As if Mito knew what I was thinking she glared in my direction. I could only chuckle as I backed away. I wanted no fight with her at this moment, maybe in twenty or thirty years when she’s much older but she could wipe this village out completely in just a few minutes if she wanted to. She was as strong as Hashirama, maybe stronger and that was my main attraction for her. I wanted her power, she was still beautiful even after all these years, only red hair slightly greying to show any signs of her aging.
“This is a Hyuga and a clanless then? The Hyuga… I don’t know. That caged bird debacle is a mess I’d rather not get involved with.” I interrupted her. “Ahh, you haven’t heard then. No more main branch and I removed the seals from the Hyuga a few days ago. She was an orphan, by the way, not part of the main branch.”
Things clicked in her mind as she smiled at the two girls. “Oh is that so? I’ll take these two then.” I only smiled at her picks, those were the two I’d have guessed. “You might want to go easy on the blonde there. She’s a bit slow.” Ami glared at me as she walked forward I mentioned. “Ahh, they’ll be learning as clones so they can keep training their taijutsu. If you need them to be here make sure you give them a heads up.”
The two made clones before we headed to the next location. Tsunade looked at all of my students with a frown. “You damn thief. That one there would have been a great medic nin.” I chuckled at her. “Don’t say that. She’s going to get a big head and I’ll have to beat her down.” Ami yelled. “Sensei let me switch teams to your wife please.” I thumped her on the head.
“You don’t get to learn my secret taijutsu techniques and just leave for free. Speaking of which, all of you will be learning the very basics of medic nin like Tsunade’s squad is.” All looked at me confused as I explained. “If someone is dying what would you do? If your teammates were dying or friends or family what good is knowing how to fight good for? Being taught to heal should be taught first before you learn how to fight in my opinion.”
I explained my true feelings even more. “On the battlefield, the most important person is the healer. Imagine a fight between one hundred ninjas and only one team has a healer. If the teams are equal the team with the healer will win every single time. The force multiplier of healers is unquestionable and one of the biggest advantages the hidden leaf has is our higher number of healers.”
Tsunade can pick who to teach after they learn the basics. Each left a clone, Ami showing how much further she progressed in such a short time. She could make three now so she could still pick one more specialty before the end. I doubted it though, Ami was already spreading herself very thin. Both of her specializations were extremely difficult.
The next is sensory. Hiami steps forward before I stop her. “Why do you think you’re the sensor of the group?” I pointed at Nawaki and Fugaku. “Nawaki will be learning the dog summoning techniques from the Inuzuka clan while Fugaku will be learning my snake sensory techniques. You already have good eyes what happens if you get separated from the group? It’s better to have overlapping specialties on the team like this.”
It was costly. I happened to be trying to gain a few concubines from the Inuzuka clan but apparently, you have to be liked by dogs and dogs were naturally afraid of me for some reason… Which really sucked, I liked dogs. Still, it got me some favors, and having Nawaki pick up a few ninja dogs for tracking would fill the tracking specialization on our team as well as having another sensory specialist.
Fugaku would have thrown a fit if his rival got ahead of him so I had to give them the same specializations.
