Ke Yi realises that there is always a new low, lol But I like the process of World creation being done this purposefully. It's pretty damn cool

Dsea

Soil is mostly dead organic matter not stone, so unless you want to give up on the whole scientific front the best best he would be able to do is stone gravel sand and clay like materials that is the basis for plats to grow and die in thus creating soil

Dsea

By give up on the scientific front I mean acting like it’s how everything works instead of the more esoteric views that other cultivators use to achieve the same result, as earth essence = minerals vs earth essence includes soil are vastly different concepts

Kynan

I researched it before writing the chapter. Apparently it's a combination of minerals, organic matter, living organists, gas & water. I could rewrite that section to include Ke Yin using wood qi to create non-living plants, then use wind & water essence to merge with the earth essence. What do u think?

Kynan

Yeah, that would probably make more sense for a cultivation world as other cultivators would not have that depth of scientific knowledge

Dsea

Plants can grow in rocky and sandy areas like beaches and desserts and a cultivation word tree that lives on essences / spirit and can float in a void is obviously allowed to cheat what it lives in, if you want to aim for scientific accuracy then start with simple grasses and moss as they are often the first things to grow and die starting the cycle. Then small plants and shrubs and bushes etc

Dsea

I think you can combine the two ideas and use the scientific angle to increase efficiency and speed up growth / how things form. Creating a bigger world from the same amount as magic doesn’t have to be as much as a cheat code doing the heavy lifting

Dsea

Yeah using wood and stone to create soil is exactly the sort of thing that would be an efficiency hack

As a former soil scientist I can say mass majority of dirt is usually less than 5% organic. So 95+% inorganic. And the rare dirt that has more is only 20% organic. So baring exceptional cases dirt not majority organic. Most fertile soil is 1 part organic to 19 parts inorganic. Much more important is the salt content, the pH, and eventually the nitrogen content (replaced by fertilizer along with phosphorus and potassium). Trace minerals usually aren't a problem until you've farmed land for generations. Yet here in creation, I have no idea how much of any element is being added, but I assume he's mimicking real soil.

So I'm struggling to understand, did he just go to the bottom of the soul space and just fill it with earth? Because I obviously went into thinking he was going to make a sphere. Iron core and wrap it in layers kind thing. And I'm still not sure but quadrants made me thing this is some kind of flat disc world? Lacks clarity on that front.

Kynan

Right now it is just flat disc world because there's no gravity. Once he has comprehend the Dao of gravity, he could rearrange it to make it a sphere or he could leave it as a disc world. Or even have separate planets, some discs, some spheres, and some other crazy shapes

Dsea

No one likes a know it all! ….Especially the previous know it all who turns out to be a less than know it all🤣damn I’ve forgotten too much!

This chapter reminds me a little of the 90s Maxis game SimEarth
