The type of life he can make is plant life. His master in the dual suns realm literally was creating plants with a mind or persona. He can adopt that trait to create his life forms. Those bestow affinity to each to build the world from the ground up. Just need to focus on time manipulation to progress time faster on the inside when not actively making changes.

What I can recommend is to look for the principles of Franz Bardon‘s Tetragrammaton. Which explains how the elements are created and interdependent. Very interesting to have some real world magic philosophy ;) maybe you can implement this principle and realise that it is far easier and more logical in this sense to create a world :) just a small recommendation.
