“Greenwood Rune” Abilities: 1. Intent Resonance: The rune allows them to sense malevolent intentions when near plants, though the feedback is crude and only activates in the presence of significant ill will. 2. Basic Energy Reading: They can feel vague impressions of a person’s cultivation level through the plants’ connection but lack precision. Limitations: Environmental Dependency: Without plants, the rune becomes dormant. Rune Imperfection: The rune is prone to distortion when faced with powerful cultivators or morally ambiguous individuals, leading to false readings. Maybe some optimisations of this one. I like that one a lot because plants have a very subtle senses.

Probably a little too overpowered if it can be placed in inner world. It would let him take physical objects between realities. I actually prefer that he has limitations in that regard.

Verdant Echo. A rune that takes advantage of resonance and his growing plant affinity, combining them to create a kind of resonance between him and the nearby plants, creating a pseudo kind of domain that moderately/minorly speeds up resource regeneration and said plants' health regenerations.

Combat Runes Thorn Barrage Rune: Effect: Summons a storm of spiritual thorns that shoot in all directions, targeting enemies within a radius. The thorns are sharp, fast, and infused with spiritual energy, bypassing basic defenses. Practical Use: Great for crowd control or pinning down multiple enemies at once. Can overwhelm weaker enemies and force stronger ones to retreat or go on the defensive. Limitation: High energy cost and indiscriminate targeting, requiring the user to ensure allies are out of range.

Reconnaissance Rune: 1. Roottrace Rune Effect: Sends roots underground to track movements within a large radius. The user feels vibrations that reveal the number of enemies, their positions, and their general strength. Practical Use: Ideal for detecting ambushes, hidden enemies, or monitoring large-scale battles from a distance. Limitation: Useless on terrain with no soil or plant life. Overwhelming movement (e.g., a stampede) can distort the vibrations. 2. Seed Spy Rune Effect: Plants a small spiritual seed on a target, allowing the user to track their movements and hear nearby sounds for a limited time. The seed blends into the environment, making it difficult to detect. Practical Use: Effective for following enemies without direct confrontation or gathering intelligence on a specific individual. Limitation: The seed’s effect fades after a few hours, and the target may notice if they have strong spiritual awareness.

First obviously the senses stuff, heat (could help with crafting), air movement so MC could see ambush and no blind spots, earth vibrations/sense for mineral or when he’s underground or invisible energy. Then basically telekinesis so he get water without getting up from bed (or make opponents out of balance or get formations jade into position) And those conversion runes for the 4 elements and lighting and light and probably dark? Maybe enhanced thought speed for speed reading and fight, or 2nd thought process Sleep reduction? Food negation? Maybe herb observation rune, not in a sense it connected to the system and give you names, but a sense of what the herb or plant or animal meat and venom would do to body if ingested Heat or cool runes for crafting? And maybe a rune for continuous “improve” the body, making it harder/more flexible, but if that already covered in normal qi advancement Probably very important is breathable air rune, use in water and space, with shell being in shape either hydrodynamic or aerodynamic around the head

And my favourite and maybe a little too overpowered Combat Type: Root Spike Rune Effect: Summons massive spikes of wood from the ground that shoot upward to impale or disrupt enemy formations. The spikes can grow rapidly and cover a wide area. Practical Use: Perfect for ambushing enemies, breaking defensive lines, or controlling the battlefield. Can also act as a defensive barrier. Limitation: Requires solid ground with plant roots to work effectively. Not usable on barren terrain and high energy usage.

The question is if he uses just wood based one or not. If not then you have very good ideas. I had a similar thought process with the transition rune for the 5 elements but then I came to the point that this is something that Kynan though already about :)

Not sure if I got the concept right, but would it be possible for him to "sense" his bones and cover them in runic tattoos? Like, slap some passive physical enhancement on them. Or maybe on his skull, add a rune that allows him moments of hyper-focus, allowing him to see as if time has slowed down, which can come in handy in fights.

Grass body substitute rune, a fragile imitation of a limb made of grass or a way to leave a grass body when using a movement technique.

Perception enhancement rune. Increase his brain processing power so he can think faster when fighting. Also if it blanket covers enhancing his senses as well would be great. Call it the sigil of sensing maybe? Basically I’m thinking he needs to really focus on building a solid foundation. I’d also be interested in him learning about 3D runes cos he can put some crazy stuff in his mind space. - if he learns about different runes for sensing etc he could figure out how to combine them in 3D TFTC!

LAST ONE and maybe good for the upcoming battle: Support and Buff Runes Vital Grove Rune Effect: Temporarily increases the stamina and regeneration of allies within a small radius by connecting them to the life force of nearby plants. Practical Use: Ideal for prolonging battles or helping injured allies recover quickly in the field. Limitation: Requires a dense plant-rich environment to work effectively, and the effect fades quickly in barren areas.

It would be cool to be like a preception enhancing rune but with some limitations kind of like tin allomancy in the mistborn series. Tineyes as they were called in universe could hear the faintest wispers, see the faintest glimmers but would be overwhelmed and temporarily incapacitated by particularly loud sounds and particularly bright lights.

Danger sense runes. Stealth rune. Resistance runes: heat/cold, poison, light, etc. Survival type runes: create food/water, shelter, breath water, etc. Runes that can give him insight into the higher realm essences... time, gravity. For example a rune that increase his awareness/perception of time. To jump start his progress to adding higher concepts to his world.

Some kind of rune for plant fluid/toxins that can be used to slow/restrict/debilitate an opponent. With his Earth experience I bet a lot of animals/people would have an interesting reaction to Capsaicin in sensitive areas if he could tweak it with his specific knowledge.
