Rootbind for the imagery. His World Tree should almost never shed anything.

Yggy is a pokemon! Honestly why can't he just inscribe one on his body and one on his inner world? You mentioned the possibility of doubling the number of runes anyway... Both are good. Yggy as a vine excels in control already so leaf blade makes more sense if he wants to increase his versatility. However rootbind just feels right. If he wants a long range attack he can just use a bow. The other possibility is to inscribe leaf blade onto Yggy. The cactus was using runes so why not Yggy.

Leaf blade. I feel that rootbind is something he can achieve through skill eventually anyway - he has vines and such. But he doesn’t have leaves afaik TFTC! Edit: changed to leaf blade. No idea why I called it leaf storm 😅

Touch

One you can use in air combat flexibly, which will happen when he reach higher rank in both worlds. Another needs ground and inflexible. Is this even a choice?

Rootbind would help when he’s low level, but when people become faster and more aware leaf storm is better.

Leaf blade just seem more versatile and can block people as well.

He can already achieve something relatively similar as rootbind with just his plant manipulation, with grass for instance. While it might not be as good as a proper 'spell', an AOE attack is just too good to pass, especially when it just fits along the rest of his 'kit'

Leaf blade on yggy and if he could use rootbind on his world tree he could make its roots appear out of small spatial tears to use it in the air , maybe not immediately but at higher cultivation level
