Getting close to the end of this project!

The last couple of days I’ve been working on rock sliders. The first step I had to do was reinforce the factory frame rail so I could weld to it. I put a 2” 1/8” thick U frame over it. Then, I built two tube frames to hug the pinch weld of the car. These are the actual “rock sliders”. Lastly, I welded these tube frames to the frame rail. Thus, a complete system.

The idea is that if the car gets beached on some rocks, it’ll slide or bounce off the rock sliders instead of actually denting or ripping the thin sheet metal to underneath. This is my first time building any so I hope it works 🤷‍♂️

Next up is actually finishing everything. I just added a skid plate to the front, now I’m going to add gusset plates everywhere and smooth some things out.

Sunday I bring the car to Donut Media and help them transform the rest of it for a week!
