Nah, this is Anna being a good friend. Sometimes people need a little bit of pushy help to get back up. Also, Anna was right in that she is one of very few people who would understand Holly's situation and even fewer who wouldn't immediately take direct advantage of it. Now if Anna turns that dinner with Susan into anything other than dinner with a friend, that's being a shitty person. But that's why it's Susan's dinner, not Anna's.

I disagree. Anna is just presenting her with an option,and a good one. People are more able to listen to someone who's been through the same thing; that's how self-help groups work. It's a proven successful model.

Thanks for the chapter, Shirt. I admit I find it Interesting that the Pallimustus folks don't use Elizabeth's name, not even Farrah, who got along fine with Craig after their initial meeting. And unrelated, I liked the way Neil warned Carlos about not forgetting he's a priest of the Healer; up to now, it's always been Jason cautioning him.

I really admire the work Shirt has put into his characters in his novels. He makes us care about these fictons heavily with a little description, a little dialogue, and then we're crying over someone that never was. It's the heart of why I come back over and over to his books. That and the hope of a little soft core action someday.

I like Anna here. She's being direct that she'll be here when holy gets back on her feet but right now holy needs normal. And dinner with a friend is just normal enough. I see friendly ribbing not nastiness. I will say I've never seen the word couch used that way before.

For once I’m not overly annoyed with Anna. She spends so much time being a bossy little Karen that I often forget that she has a lovely wife. I know that she’s just being opportunistic with a competent woman but at least she’s honest about it

Thinking about the outworlder Elizabeth learned the blood magic from, do we know how old she is? I suspect she became a vampire even earlier than the one ancient one Craig disliked at that meeting years ago, and he was 14th century, if I remember correctly. There's also the clockwork king dug up from an Assyrian archeological site, I think, which would be even older than that, probably. So apparently there have been occasional outworlders for thousands of years. It's just something interesting to think about. Although obviously Boris and his messengers are the oldest visitors to Earth, I would hope! I find a lot of food for thought in Shirt's writing, which is one reason I enjoy it so much. Also, as BoC teaches us, everything is connected, and finding the connections is an endless pastime with 12+ volumes to find them in! 🤫

She didn't need to have met the outworlder. She only needed access to his knowledge. As to when the outsider arrived... Farrah called the magic ancient, so at least a thousand years old, I'd say. As the relatively frequent emergence of outworlders between Earth (or Terra if you want to be more correct) and Pallimustus is caused by their twin nature, ... the question arises how complex life has to be to be an outworlder? Were there outworlder bacteria? Outworlder plants? Outworlder trees? I think the first outworlders came to be once life was complex enough. It would also be an additional explanation for similar/identical animals or some myths. Maybe some knight actually fought an outworlder dragon? And he could defeat it, because the low magic was essentially killing it/prevent regeneration.

Oh, I think not only Anna is opportunistic. Meeting up in Clan territory is quite the subtle recruitment strategy. With Clive's Portal Services they could have met up anywhere. Though, it is also a strategy to help. After losing her job, she can get a new sense of purpose with the right job offer/opportunity to find new purpose.

You need a soul to become an outworlder because the soul needs to reform s physical body when you get to a world. My pet theory is that souls are created by a natural array that manifests when a brain, or a structure that acts like a brain gets complex enough, that would mean that animals could possibly travel between worlds, but bacteria and most plants could not.

Gerling is not going to be an easy meal. He has 'immortality' and will be able to revive from massive damage. Also wide-area explosive abilities, that will continuously wipe out a large chunk of Colin's cluster. Jason will have to figure a way to force feed Colin down Gerlings throat and have him eaten from the inside, or just have one of his worms bite the rune/sigil of gold suppression into Gerlings bones to shut off all his power.

One has to wonder if until this moment, Elizabeth truly understood the extent of Jason's power. Yeah she made that quip about him reaching across Universes to annihilate her competition but did she in reality really understand just how powerful his was, especially inside his domains.

I find it interesting that there are now 2 aspects of different gods appearing within a relatively short period Ms Bussinger has an aspect of Purity and Gerling has an aspect of Undeath makes me wonder how the Manifestation of a God actually starts and why the Gods prefer to appear as people. I don't think it's as simple as 'having to deal with people it's easier to appear as a person' could it be that at some point they were people who due to circumstances were forced to concentrate their focus on aspects of their powers going up in rank to Transcendance and beyond tranforming into the Authority of that Aspect.

Umber, he seemed fairly confident in his video message for Marie that he could handle Jason and Umber would probably know ways to ... inconvenience Astral Kings and given Raythe's offer of help to return him from whatever patch of reality he gets shoved off to could be Mckean's final act is to kick Jason to somewhere only Raythe could find just as some nasty sh1t comes down the link between worlds.
