Hey Guys,

Really hoped to get three today, but it just wasn't happening. Really sorry about that. Hopefully in next weeks batch we'll have moved on from the crafting. I personally love it, but its time for us to check in on other characters.

I think that these chapters will give you more of an understanding of what's going on with Skill Paragon. Also, I realise that it wasn't very clear that the Synthesis Machine that Sal was making was a component necessary for the operation of the Workbench. It's called the Creation Engine and is Mythic Grade.

In the coming chapters, where Sal explains everything to Quest, it'll hopefully become clearer for people struggling with it. If it doesn't click after that, I'll make sure to make it clearer in the edits :)

Hope you all had a great weekend. Not a single bottle of red wine has been opened yet, so there's that to look forward to.

All the best,
Brian

Cool. I didn't say it last chapter but I was nervous about skill master "breaking" considering how everyone should be able to activate all 4 factors of their weave once they've evolved them. Like how Divinity can use Prediction and Divination. Sounds like the upgrade just changed Sal's understanding of how weaves are replicated. I'm looking forward to the explanation. Also looking forward to wherever the Sal+Fabi thing goes. Truthfully, I'm in Divinity's corner for eventually ending up with Sal, but a good ole fashioned love triangle could add some fun drama

Brain! You can't do this to me. These are terrific chapters but, you left a 1,000 metre cliff!!

Really enjoyed these chapters!! Yes a tiny bit confused on how stuff works but that’s because Sal is also figuring it out and is a bit confused so it makes total sense for us to be as well! It means I’m connecting with his mental state and being sucked into his character haha! Love everything thank you for the chapters!!

Nah this is Skill Master and then some. Just wait until Sal uses drugs (alchemy) to finalise his gates and he will be replicating and holding new weaves again in no time. He'll be sat in Athena again by the end of the month and know what to do next. Skill Paragon might even improve Athena's advice.

Was waking up this morning, dealing with the idiot spiders I always deal with on my homestead. Once I was done, I went and read a chapter on royal road for a story I follow. And all that was to say, I had an idea for a new piece of gear for Sal, or Fabi. They both like drones so much, and Sal can make that reactor ability. So why not doing a backpack that doesn't use straps, instead it has 6 - 8 legs that wrap around his torso, integrate into his uniform, providing more power, a portable shield, but it can also detach like Jackal and scuttle about, or provide a mobile shield barrier for supports to hide behind in big fights. He could also upgrade that and use it for 'The Invention' tests, of they send him a second one.

If you need to have the entire book played out for you then by all means stop reading weekly chapters. We are along for the ride not stealing the ship! Wait to see how things come together before jumping into judgement! I don’t always know where you’re going but happiness is not a destination but a journey! I love the ride and the ups and downs. Keep up the good work Brian! If you love it the I’m with you!

Hi Brian, my nephew expressed a concern that I wasn't able to pin down on my own. It's a feeling that grows over time that, "this seems too easy," because Sal never fails in his crafting. No obstacles to overcome = a shallow victory. The longer this goes on, the less I can believe in it care about the character. That's only on the crafting front. On the battle front the same thing is less drastic, but still somewhat there.

I loved the pull of skill paragon to the craft table, the certainty of how to shape the craft and uncertainty/anxiety attached to changing people. Having not yet seen the rank difference between Prime and mythcrafter I kind of wonder if Sal will run into an idea that prime will just tell him he's not ready for yet.

Great chapters. Last 5 have been amongst the best in the series. Dying for updates on the minor players, guild armor, and Sals armor pants and boots. Lol come to think of it Barry doesn’t have armor pants either. You’d think teenage guys would have certain armor priorities. Loved the teasers about doc ameye and what’s going on with Athena Should there be an under armor so Sal doesn’t always have to rip his clothes off? Re the mythic arms wouldn’t you want them to complement the owners skills or fill in for weaknesses? Looks forward to Monday

Thanks for explaining. It is very different than reading a book where something makes total sense after it’s broken down a few chapters later. I think even these chapters made things made things make more sense. Context helps. It’s also quite clear Sal has NO idea what’s happening which is pretty interesting.

I can't wait for number 6 to come out there is so many angles to bring together it is bound to be a great book

Chapter 9. The ones that get the farthest but still fall… ?fail. Chapter 18 and whatever demon was unlikely…. ?unlucky

Is my fix almost there ? 😇

Still hoping for eight wine fueled chapters to drop today... 🫣

Jonathan Campbell

Here's hoping that a delayed posting means 3-5 chapters!

I wonder if skill paragon was created to make sal stand out, as eventually doc amye is going to evolve his skill to mythic?
